I got it out, and it was already assembled (which is nice). The materials are grade A, same quality if not more than any top noth product out there. And the best thing, they fit full size headphones!! HD 600's, HD 650's, HE-400, Audezes...I can't really imagine anything that wouldn't fit. All without looking too large at all. It's also heavy, which I find positive. The bottom is covered with a black non-stick material, which is also great. The only complaint I can find is that when I took it out of the pakaging, I thought it had rub marks, which resulted to simply be uncleaned aluminium powder from the machining process. I love that it is actually machined, but it seems pretty laughable that it's only defect is that the manufacturer doesn't thuroughly clean them before packaging. And easily solved.
So bascially there isn't much more to say. If you need headstand that looks great without costing more than your heaphones do, this is the one to buy (as long as you like the high tech look). If wood is your thing, there might be things out there that suit you best, but for the vast majority this is definitely a step up from the cheap plastic ones which only cost 10$ less.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I will try to upload some picture soon. Thanks for reading!!
Since there is no lower headband to support on the resting bar on the stand, you can only use the steel bars at the top. Unfortunately, with the AD-line from Audio Technica, it is just barely enough room. This forces the cable at the base of the headphones to bend, which may cause unnecessary stress on your cable. Measure your headphones from the bottom of the cups to the headband. If your headphones are taller than 9 inches, I would recommend a different stand.
Additionally, I would avoid hanging your headphones by the suspension band. If your headphones have two headbands (one elastic and springy, one solid), I would hang them on the SOLID bands to reduce stress to the self-adjusting suspensions.
The rubbery tacky pad on the bottom is excellent for keeping it grounded on a smooth surface. Set the Luxa 2 down and it will take considerable force to knock it over. Good.
I'm less enthused about that same material having been applied to the top, where it keeps the headband from sliding around; the tackiness ensures that dust and other particles will adhere to it, soon dirtying up that black patch.
My one big gripe is that this stand is not tall enough for certain large headphones, such as my HiFiMAN HE-1000 and my Audeze LCD-3. The connectors and cables touch the bottom. There's no way to adjust the height. I finally jury-rigged a piece of dense foam to the top, with several carefully-applied strips of gaffer tape. That works fine, but it's no improvement in the looks department.
I'd have liked the Luxa 2 stand better if I could've picked a taller version, or one that telescopes. Clearly, one size does not fit all.
