The Lindrums were a family of champions, mainly in billiards and snooker, but also in primary industry (winemaking) and entertainment (dixie-land jazz). There were five world-class champions in the same discipline in only four generations, sparking Austraia’s (If not the world’s) greatest sporting family dynasty. The book written by Horace Lindrum’s daughter, Janne, recounts the history of this great sporting family and of her father Horace Lindrum, hailed as the most travelled sportsman of his era. The story is fraught with War, betrayal, crime, corruption, and controversy as it delves into this familys rich history culminating in the story of a man who despite tragedy and family upheaval wave his family flag on the world stage for a remarkable 50 years. In what is a unique, intensely human generational saga, Horace’s daughter captures the spirit of a family’s success, the trials and tribulation of her father’s truly extraordinary life and shines a bright light on the great men of the game and the women in their lives.

Fabulous book
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 12 December 2020Verified Purchase
This book is in my view an important document for those interested in both billiards and snooker. It is a substantial publication with quite remarkable detail about the Lindrum family. I have always been fascinated by Walter Lindrum who is arguably the greatest player to ever hold a cue in his hand. However my knowledge of Horace Lindrum was limited and this book illuminates what a remarkable player and person he was. I would say that this book is very good value and I am delighted to have it in my library. You will not be disappointed! David H

Talent is not given it's achieved

This book is written by a member of the family and reading it I get a different feeding than if someone else who is not family member, thus giving me that emotional sensation. I have not read all the book 1/3 but this feeling is though I am there like a fly on the wall. My aim is to read it slowly and try and absorb each page.

Great story about popular sport that I like and play and about a man who stood up to ridiculous peoples ideas that were about greed and self importance
