The build is separated into 3 modules, with pieces for each in numbered bags; I didn't bother doing any additional sorting, it was manageable as they had it. You get some unique Lego elements to add to your parts collection, and of course the vibrant blue pieces are nice. I was pleased with the sturdy feel of the finished car---it's not as delicate as some models, with only a couple of small bumper parts prone to getting knocked off.
Lots of nice details in this model. Doors swing wide, seatbacks move, hood and trunk open up, roof pops off. The air-cooled engine is properly placed in the rear, with the spare tire up front. The roof rack holds a loaded cooler and surfboard, so you're set for a day at the California shore (assuming you can drive stick, no automatic transmission here)!
The result was very satisfying and can’t be mistaken for anything other than a Beetle. Admittedly not a cheap model but the enjoyment it has given cannot be priced. Junior has even pinched it for display in her room...think Lego may have a new convert!
Great for VW Beetle lovers
