Built this with my 5yo daughter over a weekend. It's great for young ones because the builds are repeated a few times, and they get the hang of it and gives them confidence. Also loved the little bits of technic added, and had a ball (pun intended) of a time rolling him around. My older girl enjoyed the build, the younger one had fun playing with the bb8 minifig.

Complexity: 4/5 - Technic bits a little bit fiddly but not too hard.
Building Fun: 5/5 - From a 5 year old's perspective, repeatability was good. Finally seeing the ball was the best bit.
Playability: 4/5
VALUE: 5/5

On a serious AFOL note, this bb8 is NOT a UCS but... it scales perfectly with the R2D2. If you got this for sub $100 australian you are winning, It's quite a popular set so there will be a few out there on the 2nd hand market, other wise around $120 is fair price.
