About the Author
Australian spiritual teacher and author Barry Long (1926-2003) taught a way of self-realization based on truth discovered in your own experience. This means being able to tell the true from the false, not only in the ordinary sense of what is a true or false statement, but as a way of discovering the ultimate truth of life.

Highly recommend as part of a journey.Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 11 December 2014
Read this and Barrys work as a young man. Would recommend this book to anyone, as challenging as it can be. No longer a Barry "longite" but love and respect the man for the influence he had on me. The latter chapters are additions the the original and describe a "mystic" death and the world of possibilities. Have been through this myself and latterly found christ No bible basher but would still recommend this book time and again. Read it carefully, with depth and perspective but like all works its how you see it in relation to your own life. If it comes across as a bit "nihilistic" avoid... some of Barrys work can be as he focuses on death and and he underlying motivators which drive us on and the "predictability" of human interactions. I advise not to take this too literary as it can take away from whats good within. All said, still a book to glace at. Barry was a wise man who paid special attention to love between men and woman. Although there is that "longing" within most of us I would seriously suggest that life does not consist solely of this and has many different aspects. Barry began his Teachings from a Gnostic perspective... His writings were well thought through, his audios good but sometimes scatty. Oh, the book, its a classic in its own right.

The Depths of Self RevealedReviewed in Canada on 19 April 2016
Barry Long has a talent for succinctness. He appears to be able to lay out a "map and portrait" of the 'self', the reader, "me". His revealing remarks go straight to the heart. If one is particularly attentive and observant of what is continually happening in one's mind/thoughts, then with Barry's guidance the knowledge of self is revealed.
