Gwen wanted to believe that her real first name – Guinevere – was nothing more than the byproduct of her father's obsession with the legends of Merlin, an obsession that had cost him his job and ultimately ruined both their lives.

Yet, when she encounters a monster in a dark alley bent on killing her and meets Lance, her movie-star gorgeous rescuer who explains the truth about them and who he is – Lancelot, from King Arthur's court – there's no way she can believe that he's just some insane man who claims to still be answering King Arthur’s battle cry after fifteen hundred years, especially when she meets the other knights and discovers she is being targeted by beasts sent to hunt them long ago by the evil witch, Morgan Le Fey.

Gwen is pulled into a battle for her life. But as the pieces in a complex plan put together by Merlin himself fall in place and Gwen with the knights pursues the source of Morgan's evil, she is soon afraid for much more than her life, for Lance wins her affection, and soon her heart. Is it a true love? Will Lancelot still fight for Guinevere? Will he pick up his sword as he did for hundreds of years, or will he realize that despite his vow, he didn’t really love Gwen but a medieval queen that had been dead for over a thousand years?

I just love a story that takes something tried and true and adds a unique spin that allows you to go places you’ve never been before.Knight Defenders is a great example of a story that does just that. Granted there are a lot of stories and slants on the Arthurian Legend and I tend to love them all. The spin that Knight Defenders takes brings a group of eleven of Arthur’s knights through time as immortals. Immortals that have had their souls split in two by the very magic that made them invincible. They have spent centuries fighting off the demonic creations of Mordred meant to devastate mankind. Their one saving grace when Merlin changed the warriors into immortals was that one day they would be reunited with the other half of their soul in their tresor, their soulmate. The cutting edge of that double-edged sword is that if their tresor is killed they too die. To top it off, the magic that changed them also scattered them across the globe and it has taken centuries for just a few of them to find each other. They have their suspicions on the number of tresors that have been born and already perished taking their other half with them. Bottom line they have no clue how many knights are left of the original eleven.

In Knight Defender, you meet Gwen, the first of the tresors and the catalyst to the end games. Gwen was named Guinevere by her father, who was a professor of Arthurian legend. Unfortunately, towards the end of his life, many began to see him as somewhat of a crackpot as he attempted to prove his theories. Life was spent moving from one campus to another across the country in a rapidly spiraling downward career move. In the end, Gwen was left with inexhaustible medical bills when her father succumbed to lung cancer.

4.0 out of 5 stars Knight Defenders was different, but it was a good different 26 February 2016

I love paranormal books and a secret love that I have is for are stories about King Arthur, his knights, Merlin things like that. When I read the description about Knight Defenders I was curious, excited and honestly a little worried that the author wouldn’t be able to do one of my secret loves justice. I can say without a shadow of a doubt that Victoria Sue not only did an amazing job with the twist she gave this classic story but I have a feeling this is going to be a series that I won’t be able to help but love.

Lance, some of you may know him as Lancelot, you know one of King Arthur’s Knights, round table, had a thing for Guinevere. Yep that’s Lance, he still isn’t comfortable with all things 21st Century but he must battle the monsters created to destroy him and the remaining knights so he has no choice but to be a part of the modern world. It’s saving a woman in an alley that his future is changed in a heartbeat, because Gwen isn’t just someone who sees the monsters she shouldn’t be able to , she is Lance’s other half of his soul.

Gwen is named after Guinevere; her father loved all things King Author and his knights. When Lance rescues her it’s not only coincidence that her name is the same name of the woman Lance is said to have loved. Who can really measure up to that type of thing right? What Gwen doesn’t understand is it’s not Guinevere that Lance wants, it’s her. Even when other obstacles get between them, nothing can change the connection between them.

Knight Defenders was different, but it was a good different and to be honest it was refreshing for an author to take such a loved classic fable and turn it into something more modern and with the perfect paranormal element. I enjoyed it very much and I hope that the next book releases soon because I am already addicted.

5.0 out of 5 stars A new twist on the Arthurian Legends... 25 February 2016

She’s gave up her education, lives in a worn down apartment in a seedy neighborhood and works in a diner. The last thing she ever thought she’d be dealing with was Arthur’s legend come to life. When she is attacked by one of Mordred’s demons, though, she has little choice but to face a new version of reality. Meeting Lance sparks all her womanly interests. At the same time, she can’t help question whether Lance is only interested in her as the reincarnation of his first love, Guinevere. Or maybe she is just his prophesized tresor and feelings have nothing to do with it? Drop in a surprise from the past and any developing relationship with Lance is definitely on a teetering rock at the edge of a cliff face.

Lancelot is at the end of his rope. After centuries of battling the De-Vall demons, he’s ready to hang up his sword… then he chances upon Gwen being attacked by a De-Vall in a back alley. If that weren’t enough, though, she can actually see and hear them, something normal humans can’t do. Combined with the irony that her name is Guinevere and her father was a professor of Arthurian legends and every sign that Merlin and fate are at work is pretty obvious. Now, not only must he fight to save humanity as the leader of the knights, but he must do everything in his power to keep Gwen safe. The De-Valls are attracted to the tresors and will do anything to take them out. Then the past comes visiting and puts everything he has with Gwen at risk. No matter the obstacles, though, Lance isn’t giving up the tresor he has come to love.

The Knights series arc gets off to a great start in Knight Defenders and I’m really looking forward to seeing where Ms. Sue takes us. The future promises danger, challenge, magic and most of all hope for the knights of the round table as each finds his tresor and the battle heats up.

4.0 out of 5 stars Old tales come to life with a new twist in this uniquely fun read 29 March 2016

Old tales come to life with a new twist in this uniquely fun read from Victoria Sue. Our heroine, Gwen, struggles to navigate real life, working in a diner and living in the shadier side of town in order to make ends meet. She's lost her father, is faced with his massive medical bills, and frankly has very little time for romance.

Meanwhile, eleven of the infamous knights of the round table have been struggling to not only vanquish evil, but to find one another, as well as their soul mates. Among these knights in Lancelot, who is about ready to call it a day in his quest to end the evil he’s been chasing for centuries.

He’s exhausted, and lonely, and tired of facing an eternity not knowing where his brothers or his soul mate might be...If he could find a way to get out of his bind, he would.

Until he meets Gwen. After rescuing her from the demons he’s sworn to protect humanity against, he realizes that there is more to this human then meets to the eye. Could this unlikely slip of a girl be his soul mate?

Suddenly, Lancelot is no longer trying to figure out how to hang up his sword, he’s realizing that he will do whatever is necessary to protect Gwen, and their future, despite whatever road blocks pop up – and there are some roadblocks, which only serve to advance the story and the fun.

This first installment of the series sets the stage for an intriguing series, full of magic, romance, and adventure. The possibilities for these fellows and their missing halves are endless, and I look forward to reading about each and every one!
5.0 out of 5 stars Can she love Lance 17 February 2016
By Bella's blog - Published on Amazon.com

This is my first time anything by Victoria Sue and I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Victoria Sue has given us a story about knights and monsters with a modern twist that is mixed with myths, magic and battles with a touch of love. This story will grab you and hold in it's pages from start to finish and will leave you wanting more. This is a story about a father who loved the story's about Merlin and knights ,so he called his beautiful daughter Guinevere who hated her name and the trouble it bough her all her life. But then one night she's attacked by a monster in a alley ,and then out of no where a knight in shining amour shows up to rescue her ,and knight is no other then Sir Lancelot is the man ,all Gwen think is she must be going crazy. The has given us a main character that is brave, smart and who has humor , and who is also strong and brings the story line together. As I'm reading to funny story I find myself laughing out loud specialty, when Lance first rescued Gwen ,poor Lance was tired of the fighting , he was loneliness and was just tired of the struggling day after day, in his eyes every day seemed endless to him. But to lance hearing a woman screaming meant he couldn't ignore it because bring a knight of honor ,he had to protect the weak and honor his king. His day seems dark until he see Gwen and instantly he lost his heart to her. I could go on and tell you more about this great story , but that would spoil it for for. I highly recommend that you read this story ,because you won't be disappointed.
5.0 out of 5 stars Such a great tale of Knights and Love 17 February 2016

What happens when you mix a 21st century modern and independent woman with a thousand years old medieval knight?

Such an amazing book that will grab you from the start!

Gwen simply hates her name and all the trouble it brought her during her life... As if being the daughter of a man obssessed by Merlin's legends was not enough, he had to name her Gwinevere! And of course, when she's attacked by a monster in an alley, who comes to rescue?? A Knight! há, but not any ordinary night, noooooo, Lancelot comes to her rescue. Was she finaly losing her mind??

I loved Gwen from the start... She's funny, brave, smart, and can overpower Lance! Their first encounter - after he saves her - was so funny that I found myself laughing out loud. Lance really didn't saw THAT coming!

Lance was getting tired of all the fights, the loneliness, the strugles... his days were endless and there was nothing to give them hope of better times... In his darkest moment, he heard a woman screaming and he simply couldn't ignore it... As the knight that he was, he had to fulfill his vows and honor his king, even if he lost his life in the process... What he couldn't ever imagine, was losing his heart instead...

Victoria Sue brought us a tale of knights and monsters, of modern times mixed with old myths, of battles and magic... but most of all, she brought us a tale of love.

Don't miss this great book!
