Product Description

Jean Marre’s recent life has been one big surprise right after another. First his family moved to SoCal from a remote French Canadian town. Then he began feeling a strange compulsion to watch over a smart little blonde named Ever Moore. In fact he found himself restless, distracted, and uncomfortable if she wasn’t around.

Before there was time to adjust to any of that, he was informed that his parents were going to South Africa for a few months and leaving him with his mother’s friend, who happened to be Ever’s mother.

Life just couldn’t get stranger.

Or could it?

5.0 out of 5 stars The Game is On! 27 April 2017

Things are really beginning to develop in the second installment of R. CAINE HIGH SCHOOL. More of the game and its players are revealed. If Ever and Jean thought things were strange at their new school before, they are learning that strange doesn't even come close to what is happening. Maybe they can even put aside their differences and work as allies. Even if he can't fully understand it, Jean can't fight his need to protect Ever. They may deny their growing attraction to each other, but it may change not only their lives but the outcome of the game.

Who are friends and who are opponents? Can the tarot reveal the secrets? Is Mercury playing a game of his own? How much help or interference will come from the gods? We learn some answers as we move deeper into the game. Other questions arise. I can't wait until the next book.

This series really captures the spirit and voice of teenagers in high school. There is mystery, romance, and humour. As always, Victorian Danann creates characters that are complex and compelling. She has built another fascinating world to explore. Do yourself a favour and read all her books.
5.0 out of 5 stars Winning is Everything....its in the cards! 27 April 2017

If you are a fan of Victoria Danann DO NOT let the YA Genre of "The Knight" Book 2 in the R. Caine High School series keep you from reading her latest adventure. Once again she has given us characters we can relate to and empathize with as they unravel this "game" they have been made players in unbeknownst to them....being a human teenager dealing with all the drama of high school is hard enough but trying to "win" the game and figure out the rules as you go is an even larger challenge....especially when little by little you realize you're not like the other teens.
Even this 60 something reader is enjoying this series.
5.0 out of 5 stars PLEASE OH PLEASE! Can I have more? 26 April 2017

She has done it again! I cannot believe how I am pulled in to this story! I want more! This story leaves you wanting to know what happens next. Ever is just now finding out who she really is and how she needs to grow in order to play the game. I cannot wait to see how many other characters will affect the outcome of this game. I really am loving the love triangle that is forming between the main characters. This YA book is more than just a teen story. It is one that leaves you wanting more. You never know who is going to cause a problem next or what the solution will be. I am excited to see what is in store for Ever Moore!
5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! 26 April 2017

Ever and Jean Marre have to navigate through adolescence with no clue about what their futures hold and how they'll survive school. The pressure is on with homework due, but they have to figure out their role in a cosmic game that's being played out in the worse possible place, High School, where anyone can be your best friend or your worse enemy.
I recommend this book for its story, humor and characters. Be warned... may cause flashbacks for older readers.

Fast, fun, and fabulous! This is a quick paced young adult story that is smart enough for the young at heart reader. What a refreshing new spin on high school with bored Gods mixing things up with a new game. The characters are witty and sassy. You won’t have any time to get bored reading about Ever Moore and Jean Marre. The ending does leave things open for the next book in the R. Caine High School series.
