The characters both had things to deal with and overcome. He was angry and withdrawn, not letting anyone see his problems. She was independent and stubborn, refusing to ask for help, but also not putting up with him not dealing with his own problems. From her point of view he should be making the best of what he’s got. And he is suddenly regretting letting everyone think he’s just lazy.
They were snarky and grouchy at each other, but not truly cruel to each other. That’s a bit of a turn off for me with enemies to lovers books. I’m good with this level of not liking each other to start with, and the love growing.
The characters were easy to like. The story was fairly fast paced and coherent. Lots of funny, cute moments. The steam was their, but not significantly high.
This enemies to lovers, single mother romance was stunning!
Winston has that deadbeat, stoner, uncaring vibe down to a science and Drew, well she is strength and sass and determination all rolled into a hot package.
Underneath all of the lackadaisical attitude, Winston has a damn heart of gold. He takes Drew & Riker in without a second thought and provides for them so beautifully. While they both have an attitude towards each other, they truly do need each other and watching them fall was so lovely.
The attitude & oneliners they sling at one another had me laughing, and the fire they exuded during their arguments & passionate moments was off the charts!
Teagan cemented why I love the Slice crew with this book & book three is now in my sights!
Three months after giving birth to her son Riker, Drew is struggling. She's always worked her butt off to get by, and now with a baby, she's had to work harder, and it's just not getting any easier. When her car breaks for the umpteenth time, help comes from an unlikely source - the guy she's always hated and her best friend's twin brother, Winston Daniels. But he's not just offering her a lift home, he's offering her a place to stay. Winston has watched Drew's struggle, wanting to help her, but knowing she'd never take it, so he pretty much tells her she's moving in with him. Reluctant, but knowing he's not going to back down, Drew agrees, knowing it's only going to be until she has enough in the bank to get on top of her bills. What she doesn't expect is to see a different side of Winston as he helps her and Riker. And as sparks begin to fly, they both begin to wonder if there's any chance this could become a permanent thing.
During A Pizza My Heart, I was excited to have a book for both Drew and Winston, and that was before it was hinted that these two would be together - I just wanted more of both of these characters, even if it meant two books. So finding out that they shared the second book in this series, I couldn't wait to get my hands of it (says me who literally just finished book one, but you get my point). Throughout book one, both were really interesting characters, so I knew they're book was going to journey I didn't want to miss out on.
From the get-go, this book was fantastic. I was immediately pulled into Drew and Winston's lives, not wanting to put the book down until I got to the end. There's just something about enemies-to-lovers stories that I love, and this one had all that and more. The backstories for both characters were intriguing, and made the journey from enemies-to-lovers so much more than the boring cliche. It wasn't an instalove kind of thing, and felt so real for the circumstances they're both in.
Naturally, I enjoyed seeing more of Wren and Foster from book one, plus getting to meat two new characters Porter and Sully. And although we didn't see too much of Porter, I totally want a book about both of them - I don't know what story Teagan would write for them, but I'd damn well read it anyway. It says a lot about an author if they're able to deliver secondary characters you want to see a book about.
I adored book one and I absolutely adored book two. Like the first book, this is 100% a book I will be adding to my re-read list. New adult and romance fans NEED to check out this book and series (but please read it in order), because you're sure to LOVE these characters and their story.
But other than those little things I really loved this book. I’m definitely going to read book 3.
Drew is strong, resilient, sassy and sarcastic. She's incredibly hard working and has a tendency to say exactly what is on her mind, but is struggling as a single mother to make ends meet.
Winston is a complex hero, whilst grumpy, lazing and not appearing to have a care in the world, he has his own issues and when you see him interact with Drew and Ryker you see his huge caring and loving heart.
Whilst quite different this pair are also quite similar in that they both are incredibly headstrong and stubborn, and don't like to let anyone help them.
Their banter is fun, flirty, antagonistic, but most of all full of moments of humor.
I thoroughly enjoyed the first title in this series, but this pair stole my heart and I hope we see more of these endearing and fun characters in future titles.

Drew Woods has her hands full as a single mother, and her stubborn independence precludes her from accepting help from friends, even when it's offered. So it's really no great surprise when her best friend's brother, Winston, takes matters into his own hands when Drew’s car breaks down.
Winston is a bit of a conundrum. He comes across as a laid back, irresponsible, ne'er-do-well, but this guy has layers. It's delightful entertainment to watch Drew peel back those layers while Winston pushes Drew’s buttons and gets under her skin. Drew does her own amount of pushing and all of it serves to make them both better people. When they realize that all that hatred is just the flip side of the love coin, well let's just say that the shock of that realization and the ensuing fear can cause people to behave unpredictably.
Clever and fun, humorous and heartfelt, this is romantic comedy at its best. Be prepared to laugh out loud, fall in love and have your heart squeezed in the best of ways. Don’t pass up the chance to visit a quaint beachside community, get introduced to the craziest pizza toppings you'll ever come across, and meet these amazing characters that will abscond with your heart. Drew is a single mom who is seriously down on her luck. When the father of her son bailed as soon as the stick turned blue, she has been trying her hardest to support herself and her baby boy, but life keeps kicking her while shes already down for the count. Until she finds help in the most surprising person: her best friends brother, Winston.
Winston is a complicated character, and even though he gives off the vibe of being a lazy stoner, there is so much more to him than meets the eye. He's always felt more for Drew than he's let on, but because he feels like he's not good enough for her, he pushes her away at every turn.. until it becomes impossible for him to shut her out.
This is one of my all time favorite couples that this author has created, and seeing Winston really turn into the man he always wanted to be, while falling in love with both Drew and her son was so heartwarming. Even though I wanted to shake the man at times, I loved every flawed part of him!
Teagan is an automatic one click author for me, and I can't wait for the next book in the series!
