“My life is a mess, and I don’t want to bring her down with me”
“l do you trust her heart?”
I close my eyes, my throat bobbing. “I do.”
This book was an a amazing read, it’s a sports romance mixing ice hockey and figure skating with two multi-cultural characters. The story it written very well and the relationship between Zane and Rei blossoms.
Rei Mitchell-Nagasaki is a whole champion figure skater who at the moment wants nothing more than a normal life, school, friends, drama the works. Rei finally convinces her father to let her apply for university and she get in, the only condition ps she has is that she needs to keep training. She has a goal in mind and whilst she still wants a normal like, she’s has this dreams for as long as she can remember.
Zanes West had a tough life growing up, but now with his best friend by his side he has conquered the first years a University and is ready to take in the next year. Hockey and sports medicine is his thing and he’s focused on achieve everything he wants, but this year is about the throw him for a loop. Rei and Zanes relationship gets an unconventional start, but if they can work together they might just achieve everything.
I absolutely loved this book and the story line and the could not recommend this series more.
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of Kiss To Defy and for that I’m very grateful.

Rei is a figure skater who is determined to make it to to the Winter games to represent USA. She decides she wants some normalcy in her life so she applies to attend Blairwood University.
Zane is from the wrong side fo the tracks but he has found his way out and plays ice hockey for Blairwood University.
Rei & Zane have a connection that is worth fighting for, however Zane does not think he is good enough to be in Rei's world. Rei only has one semster to prove to her father & coach that she can still keep up with the demands of training along with studying and making new friends.
An angsty, emotional sports/college romance that will give you all the feels. If you're looking for NA sports college romance, then this is the book for you and I highly recommend Anna's back catalogue.
Now, this is a multicultural college sports romance that was a very enjoyable read!
The storyline was filled with new found friendships, family drama, witty banter and competitive sports, all in a perfectly paced storyline!
The sports aspect was a big topic included and centred around figure skating and ice hockey which I enjoyed since those two sports interest me a lot.
This is only what I personally prefer to read but I definitely would’ve liked a more heavy spotlight to be shined upon racism in the United States as well as the issues that multicultural couples have to deal with as those sensitive topics were written fairly lightly.
The characters were enjoyable and well written. Rei was a smart, headstrong, determined, sassy and inspiring heroine to read about while Zane was the grumpy, selfless, supportive and encouraging hero. All the side characters have definitely gained my interest and I look forward to reading the individual couple books soon.
The romance was light and in my opinion, quick to spark which I’m not always a fan of however all the complications turned it into an intense slow burn.
The ending was sweet yet predictable.
Overall, a fun, quick and easy read that made me smile and covered some serious topics in a light manner.

I loved learning all about two similar but also exceedingly different sports as both the hero (Zane) and heroine (Rei) are athletes. Zane plays ice hockey and Rei is a figure skating prodigy. For two characters who spend so much time on the ice, their romance was hot, hot, hot.
I also really loved discovering who Zane and Rei were are individual people and how they interacted together as a couple. Both are extremely likeable people with their own personalities, goals, and ticks. They were easy to relate to and understand, and I often found it very easy to sink straight back into their POVs whenever I picked the story back up on my breaks at work.
Kiss to Defy was a fun, easy to read story that gave me a great view of a college-based romance with enough sports to keep things interesting without being solely focused on athletics. There was also a fantastic balance of relationship building between Zane and Rei with external factors to overcome so that it never felt too heavily focused on one particular issue. The book easily kept my attention throughout and I loved every minute of it. So much so, I've very eager to pick up more of this series in the future!

A must read book for all the sports romance lovers out there. You can't go wrong with this amazing book!!
Rei is a figure skater chasing after her dream of the winter games. Venturing out on her own for the first time and making new friends she suddenly has to navigate balancing real life.
Zane plays hockey and has never been more infuriated than he is whenever he runs into Rei. Until he realizes she isn't as she appears.
So much angst and drama in these characters lives that you can't put the book down. And the way Zane feels the need to protect Rei is so sweet. When these two finally give in the moment is perfection. I need more.
