Aladdin is caught stealing from a noble family and is sent to prison where he meets Cassian, a former Royal Guard, who is charged for gazing upon the Princess's face. Aladdin agrees to free Cassian, only if he leads him to the cave of great treasures. Together, they come across a genie lamp and all their wishes come true; wealth, power and the chance to win the Princess's heart. Kingdom of Thieves is a dark-twisted retelling of Aladdin and Rapunzel.
This book might be based on Disney but it is clear that it is NOT a Disney retelling!
Aladdin in this book was definitely not the Aladdin we all know. He was full of himself, arrogant, greedy, cocky and a bit too aware of his good looks but deep down a good guy, kinda. Can't wait for his development throughout the series!
The genie, Kyra, was my favorite character! She was hilarious and super entertaining to read!
Cassian is dedicated to the kingdom and always putting it first. He's loyal, honest and the complete opposite of Aladdin. In the book, they have to stick together which was so humorous and fun to read!
I enjoyed Princess Rapunzel's character. She is fierce and does not need a man to rule her kingdom but unfortunately, her father has other plans. Hopefully, we get to see her being more of a badass in the next book!
This book was an amazing dark twist of two the most beloved fairytales. It was hilarious, action-filled and unique! Would read this book again and highly recommend it!
***I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary ARC of this book.***
