Product Description

“… the previous night’s vision, or whatever it was, ended with a name I heard clear as day, as if the people were in my room. Ivy, the girl and boy recited together.” – Camille

Could her dreams be real? Is she the key to freeing witches from their curse? Of course not, right? Thinking that her only chance at a normal life lay in a new treatment, Camille joins Dr. Antos and a group of teens for a month long camping trip in Iceland. There she meets Jude, a fellow schizophrenic. Dr. Antos invites Camille and Jude to extend their work with him on the island of Sardinia. Camille is suspicious of Dr. Antos’s intentions but her dad goes missing, leaving her no choice but to travel to Italy. Is she walking into a lion’s den or has her illness invaded her reality?

5.0 out of 5 stars Edgy, cool YA paranormal fantasy! 22 June 2017
By Charity Rowell-Stansbury - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
I received a free copy of this book with the option of leaving an honest review.

If you are expecting a magical "Harry Potter" type book, you are looking in the wrong place. This isn't set in a fantastical other-worldly school, it is an urban paranormal novel with a realistic setting. The majority of society does not recognize the existence of magic and view children and teens with emerging magical abilities as mentally ill.

I found all of the characters in the book engaging and entertaining. Even though most of them didn't play pivotal roles in the plot, they contributed heavily to the suspense and realism that makes this book really shine. I found myself sympathizing with Camille's plight and hoped that it would be resolved by the end of the book; however, the book ends with a cliffhanger, leaving readers to wonder about how Camille will fare.

I get the feeling that I missed out on some of the nuances of the plot because I wasn't able to read the first book in the series. Despite this, I was able to follow along with the story pretty well after the first chapter and I still felt invested in the characters by the end of the book.

Kingdom of Darkness is an edgy, cool YA paranormal fantasy that will draw you in and keep you engaged. I am looking forward to the next book in the series, and will add the first book to my TBR list!

I received an arc of this book and am voluntarily reviewing.

I love love love urban fantasies! This is a great urban paranormal fantasy story! Copeland writes realistic characters that also have that fun whimsical fantasy element to them.

There are a lot of twists and suspense in the storyline. What more can I say except I oved it! And I really think if you're a fan of this genre and like some nitty gritty romance and real life stuff thrown in your fantasies than this is your kind of book!!

Kingdom of Darkness picks up where Kingdom of Embers leaves off. I love this book because it is so full of suprises and twists and turns. Tricia Copeland really knows how to keep her readers attention. I couldn't put the book down. Please if you haven't read Kingdom of Darkness I suggest you do.
