Book Description
Former secret service agents turned private investigators, Sean King and Michelle Maxwell, return in their most surprising, personal and dangerous case to date.
About the Author
David Baldacci made a big splash on the literary scene with the publication of his first novel, Absolute Power, in 1996. A major motion picture adaptation followed, with Clint Eastwood as its director and star. In total, David has published 27 novels, all of which have been national and international bestsellers; several have been adapted for film and television. His novels have been translated into more than 45 languages and sold in more than 80 countries; over 110 million copies are in print worldwide. David has also published three novels for children. David and his family live in Virginia.
Ron McLarty began his career in theatre during the early 1970s. Although he enjoyed a successful career as an actor, he didn't have much luck finding a publisher for his novel The Memory of Running, until Stephen King happened upon an audiobook version (narrated by McLarty himself), and praised it as 'the best book you can't read'. This led to the book's publication, and its rapid rise to bestseller status. McLarty is an accomplished narrator – besides Running, he has provided the narration for a number of audiobooks, including Hunter S. Thompson's Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and Decision Points by George W. Bush.
Orlagh Cassidy began her career at age 14 working at The Shakespeare Theatre at The Folger in Washington DC. She has performed on Broadway many times, including a lead role in Noel Cowards’s Present Laughter with Frank Langella as well as covering Marcia Gay Harden and Hope Davis in the production of Yasmina Reza’s God Of Carnage. She is the award winning voice of many audiobooks as well as television and radio commercials.

My sixth read of this series and I really enjoy the books. Easy to read, quite fast moving, sometimes predictable, but on the whole well worth the money to put onto your Kindle.

King and Maxwell
The sixth book and so far the latest in David Baldacci’s King and Maxwell series. Former Secret Service Agents and now Private Investigators the pair as this tale proves do not have to look far to find their latest case.
A youth running down a street in the middle of a severe storm catches the attention of Michelle Maxwell. The fact he has a gun is an important aspect in getting Maxwells attention. What follows contributes to a series of events that lead to treason, treachery and murder.
From Afghanistan through Pakistan and on to India a father tries to get back to a son who believes his father to be dead. An individual sets out to exact revenge against a political establishment who betrayed a member of his family. The complexities and corruption of modern government are exposed as individuals seek self-preservation in order to retain access to political power.
Not really sure if Baldacci intends giving us more King and Maxwell adventures? The conclusion leaves that option open. From a personal perspective I hope that there are more. Baldacci has gone on to to write more books with different characters so there are no shortage of additional books to get from this particular author.

Brilliant writing from a brilliant author

As with all of David Baldacci's books it holds you from beginning to end. I read that that this was going to be the last in the series, I do hope that it isn't. I love all the series that I have read to date including, Decker, King and Maxwell,Robie, Puller and Atlee Pine. I am up to date on all of these and waiting with bated breath for the next. How on earth Mr Baldacci manages to maintain separation between the characters I do not know but very glad that he does it so brilliantly. Thank you David Baldacci for keeping me going during all the time spent in lockdown.

which is how I like to read a series

I have read all the books in the King and Maxwell Series back to back, which is how I like to read a series. As with all of David Baldacci's stories I was taken on a roller-coaster of a ride and really came to know Sean King and Michelle Maxwell really well. The characters are not superhuman, they do make mistakes, which in my opinion makes them all the more Human and believable. I am sad that I have come to the end of the series, it has been an enjoyable trip and one I would like to revisit if the two Characters find themselves in another nail biting situation, hopefully joined by Edgar and his sister as an integral part of the team.
Highly recommended series, treat yourself and catch a suntan while you race around catching the bad Guys.

Fitting end to a great series

Just recently discovered this series and devoured each book. Great pace, really well plotted and some clever ideas. Both main characters develop over the course of the books and you really believe in their relationship.
I think any fan of thrillers will enjoy this series. The term page-turner was invented for Mr Baldacci.
I would welcome another but if not then it’s a very good ending.

Another superb book by Baldacci

I have not so far been disappointed with a David Baldacci book and this offering was well up to his usual standard. Not a spoiler but a genuine question though, the work undertaken by Maxwell & King would take a pretty hefty bank roll to fund but I found the absence of remuneration and expenses a bit of an unfinished part of this story.
