4.0 out of 5 stars A Reading the Paranormal Review 20 March 2016

Grendel is one of those adorable monster/men I can get behind. His shyness got to me. The fact he stayed on a deserted ship because it was the only home he'd ever known made me wibbly. That he knew his looks tended to scare people...poor guy.

Fortunately for him, Ursula is used to those who aren't exactly normal looking. Being around her Scoriah brothers has forced her to look beyond the surface. She sees Grendel's gentleness nearly from the beginning (sure, the first few times she glimpsed him, he scared her, but it was mostly because she wasn't expecting to see ANYONE when she caught sight of him, nor because of what he looked like) and draws him out with kindness.

I'm reading this series out of order (oops!), but I liked the hints we got of how the Scoriah interact and how surly Tee is. I like that dude. He's extra snarly. Here's to more hookups in future installments.

3.0 out of 5 stars A Mate for the Scoriah 4 May 2016

These are not my favorite alpha males. Drake does spin a good story by playing up their positive characteristics. The characters both male and female are pretty stock. The settings are interesting. This is the first of the Scoriah to find a mate and there are plenty left so look for future stories.
They are fun to read, big on romance and a plot filled with danger.

4.0 out of 5 stars The rest of the books are better, but it's a nice between story 31 March 2016

I really liked this book, but it feels shorter then book 1 and like it has less substance. None the less it is a really nice romance read. This is the least violent book in the series, a bit of a soft version. The romance is adorable, but goes very fast. Honestly it is a nice addition, but I liked the other books in the series more. The characters are likeable, actually the hero is pretty adorable and the action is nice as well. The story is well written, so no obvious annoyances or problems.
