a liitle let down this timeReviewed in the United Kingdom on 18 April 2016
Love this series , but don't think this is as strong as my favourite ones. It took an afternoon to read and probably an afternoon to write. I felt Lucy was getting a little bored with Hayley, there is so little spark or even mention of her relationship with Bransford until the end. This was almost like a long short story and I was very disappointed. Yes it was great to revisit these old friends in the keys but I felt they now need something to fresh them up a little , like a take away , this is a throw away story rather than a keeper.

Lucy Burdette has written another exceptional book.Reviewed in Canada on 13 June 2016
This series is really fun to read. Recipes to the food are included. Nice bonus. I enjoyed reading about Key West's Mardi Gras festival. Being there wouldn't be as much fun as this book.
Food, Key West and a Hurricane!Reviewed in the United States on 16 May 2016
We were in Key West and the weather turned raining... so I decided to choose a book to read and found this one written with Key West as the background. I am so glad I found this! It mentions places that we had just been to or were planning on go to, so I knew where she was talking about during the story line. And what a great Story.....It includes all the events that happen in Key West, some great food, and a zombie walk. What could go wrong? Well.... alot. Haylay is a food critic for a local magazine.... so she has the wonderful task of trying all the different foods, that the many vendors on the Keys always has. Haylay has a wonderful roommate on a boat, a lovely older lady who keeps Haylay grounded. And of course there are some cats that assist and then.... then..... a hurricane comes. Haylay's roommate, Ms. Gloria, children, wants her to leave Key West and come to their place for her safety. Haylay's Mother is going to get married on the beach..... and Haylay's gets thrown with her old boyfriend.... and ..... a Fantasy Fest is going on, where, most are just body painted.... no clothes... and a zombie walk, and then one of the zombies dies... and the adventure begins. Does Haylay and her room mate survive? Does her mother get married on the beach? Does the hurricane wreck her houseboat? What is going to happen next? Guess you just got to read to find out. What a wonderful story and made my rainy day and evening, so much better!

A GREAT read!Reviewed in the United States on 14 June 2016
We are in for a week long festival with crazy activities. And of course, there is a murder, in which Hayley becomes involved. Her friend and co-worker is the main suspect. So we get to enjoy watching Hayley try to solve a murder and save her friend, plan her mother's wedding, cover her assignments for work amidst the craziness and try and survive a hurricane! About half-way through, I was afraid that Ms. Burdette had returned to the dark side when it comes to Hayley's relationship with Detective Branson. You will need to read the book to find out if she stayed there! And there is a great closet scene that had my hubby holding his sides with laughter as I retold it to him. Killer Takeout is another winner in the Key West Food Critic Mystery series. And I was very surprised at who the killer turn out to be! A GREAT read.
