Product Description

When your life is a lie, who can you trust?

When Maggie Taylor accepts a new job in Manchester, she is sure it is the right move for her family. The children have settled well although her husband, Duncan, doesn’t appear to be so convinced.

But nothing prepares her for the shock of coming home from work one night to find that Duncan has disappeared, leaving their young children alone. His phone is dead, and she has no idea where he has gone, or why. And then she discovers she’s not the only one looking for him.

When a woman who looks just like Maggie is brutally murdered and DCI Tom Douglas is brought in to investigate, Maggie realises how little she knows about Duncan’s past. Is he the man she loves? Who is he running from?

She doesn’t have long to decide whether to trust him or betray him. Because one thing has been made clear to Maggie – another woman will die soon, and it might be her.

“This one had me awake into the early hours….the twists and turns of the story absolutely gripped me – the pacing is relentless, the timing perfect – and at no point did I guess the unexpected and shocking conclusion. Edge-of-your-seat page turner certainly captures it for me. This was one of the best thrillers I’ve read in a while.” BeingAnneReading

“What an incredibly thrilling read this was…An absolutely brilliant book which left me feeling completely exhausted with a twist right at the very end that I NEVER saw coming at all!” Kimthebookworm

‘Darkly complex…full of mystery, intrigue and well-paced action…It is exciting and engrossing and kept me up well past bedtime. I’ll be thinking about this story, and some of the issues it raises, for a long time. I believe it’s the author’s best book to date. Thoroughly recommended” Kath Middleton, Goodreads

Praise for Rachel Abbott

This was a terrific story. The tension at one point was indescribable. I just could not put this down and the ending... took me completely by surprise.
This novel is one non-stop thrilling ride - suspenseful, mysterious, with an elaborate plot with many twists and turns. Two stories that flow easily into one...Great in-depth characterisation of all the players involved that you feel their terror, pain and desperation.
Without giving too much away, this was about several women who looked like the main character, Maggie, being murdered.
Maggie Taylor comes home one day to find her husband, Duncan gone. Duncan, received a text message that his son, Josh saw, said "I am sorry", and disappeared. Maggie is now on a quest to track down this mysterious, man she loves. But, she is not going to like the real man that she has discovered now.
In the mean time, Detective Tom Douglas and Becky Robinson are investigating women who are being murdered now with the same MO, to women from 12 years ago. They all bear the markings of three cuts. What is the link? How does this all fit together? Unputdownable.
Excellent psychological, serial, killer thriller.....

The depth of characters adds to the reality of the storyline. Past murders come back to haunt the family of one. A little too much about what his wife goes through doesn't detract from keeping the reader eager for the next page. Several unexpected twists at the end.

Well-plotted and full of twists and turns. The clues are screaming out at you and you're waiting for the police to make the link. Maggie's confusion, fear and desperation are palpable and I really cared about what was happening to her. First class read.

Another great book to compliment the previous books. This is a psychological detective thriller about psychopaths and how, through years of manipulation even the closest people to them can't identify the double life of an evil serial killer.

Sometimes, the blurb for this genre exaggerates, and therefore you end up disappointed in the amount of suspense etc. Happy to say in Kill Me Again, I was far from disappointed, and would buy this author again.

So I'm not reading anything else by this author on a work night as this book left me exhausted the next day. Exhausted because I sat up till the wee hours, eyes bulging with excitement, unable to stop reading until the thrilling conclusion.

This book asks the question 'would you still love your spouse if you found out they had done something shocking?' There is nothing clean cut about Maggie Taylor's dilemma, and you are not sure which way she will go until the gob smacking finale.

If you want character depth and philosophical insights maybe read something else. If you want high class action packed adventure, believable characters and an accelerated heart rate this is the book for you. It's rivetting because there are a few central protagonists so you get to see the action from quite a few angles. No dull bits, no contrived plot devices to keep things going it's all pure thrills, starting from the second Maggie Taylor phones home to find her small children left on their own and her husband missing.

When Maggie uproots her family for a career move, she doesn’t know that it will set things in motion that will ultimately destroy her family. Thankfully, Tom Douglas is not only on the case but is personally involved with one of the victims. Maggie’s strength is tested as her life is put on the line.
This series has really captured my interest and I appreciate Abbott’s plot crafting. With a heavy influence coming from acts in the past, the ongoing story of Tom’s life, and a cleverly thought out crime, she really pulls off the suspense and attachment that some thrillers lack. Her victims tend to be very ordinary which makes the reader feel like it could happen to anyone.
