#1 the mc is a superhero, not in the literal sense but he is and he's just every girls dream and not an a-hole
#2 the plot goes through so much, I didn't feel the need to skip one line as I mostly always do because Jay is a freaking master of writing
#3 I can't even put into words how much this book will never leave me and everyone I speak to that has read it could not put it down and LOVED IT TOO.
This book now sits in #1 position of my all time favourite books, alongside colleen hoovers ugly love and 50 shades and Twilight ... really equal faves.
You da shiz Jay
Jay McLean has written an emotional, heartbreaking, breathtaking, beautiful, heartwarming, memorable story filled with angst & unexpected heartfelt moments throughout. Kick Push will make you smile, laugh, cry, fall in love and it will make you FEEL! It will take you on a journey of emotions that will leave you feeling breathless in the end.
A good story of an inspiring young 17 year old single dad Josh raising his son, Tommy.
Josh and Tommy are strong, lovable characters who have thrived no matter what was thrown at them. I didn't quite connect with Becca though. Yes, she was broken, but it would have been nice to know how and why earlier on in the story so you could understand and relate to her more.
Other than my minor Becca gripe, this was a enjoyable read. I would recommend it on the love, strength and patience of Josh's character alone.
Josh a teenager himself is just trying to raise his son to the best of his ability and for 3 years he does this all on his own. He chooses to give up his chances of a pro skating career in order to raise Tommy on his own. Tommy is quite simply the sweetest most adorable boy ever!!!! He has help from some great friends and you can see when Becca comes into their lives that they have an amazing connection. Of course things never run that smoothly and when Tommy's mother comes back into the picture .... it all goes badly.
Jay has written such a beautiful and yet heartbreaking story that is beyond memorable. This book will take you on a journey that will ultimately make you FEEL!!!
My Favourite feel here was Hope.
My first Jay McLean novel and boy was I stoked to have found it. KICK PUSH HAD ALL THE FEELS THE REAL DEALS & DRAMA; DO YOURSELF A SOLID AND ONE-CLICK IT.
How can something be so gut wrenching yet make me so happy?
I relate to this story, i relate to it a lot. It's like seeing your depression from an outsiders view.
Jay, you stomped on my heart, better put it back together next book ;)

Josh and Becca both have their own issues that they are dealing with. Josh being a single dad hasn't been easy on him and Becca has had an extremely difficult childhood to contend with. But somehow together they fit, they make each other whole again........well at least for a while. Your heart bleeds for these two, it aches for them, for their sorrow, hurt and emotional pain.
The pain and the emotional burdens Becca and Josh each carry is almost palpable, pushing its way out of the pages demanding to be felt on some level. It's raw and gripping. The ending, well I'm not quite over that just yet, I need the next book.....like right away.
This book touches upon some really difficult topics that some readers may find distressing.
However, my fears and anxiety were quickly forgotten and this is easily one of the best books I have read this year. It is so well written and you really feel for the characters in the book. Without spoiling it too much, but in my opinion the ending was perfect for what the characters need and deserve.
10 out of 10 and Jay's best work so far.
