If you had to buy one book for your weaving library, then this would have to be it! The author's knowledge is encyclopeadic, and regardless of which edition you have, its invaluable!
Ms Black covers each technique thoroughly, and in detail, with exercises along the way to help you understand the technique, and expand your skills. It was originally written as a study course for isolated weavers, and anyone following the exercises in this book would have a thorough knowledge of the craft by the time they reached the end. It may not be glossy, or fantastically up to date, as some of the latest republications are, but this is the grounding in weaving that you need to master and understand, before branching out and experimenting. Its also useful to refer back to this book when trying out new modern techniques: chances are its already been well documented in here!
So this book serves two purposes. Firstly as a comprehensive and stand-alone course of instruction in weaving, and secondly as a reference book on weaving with up to four shafts that you can go back to time and again.
Worth its weight in gold!

Great pathway for weaving exploration

This is a very interesting book with lots of great info for an intermediate weaver ready to move on and explore more techniques. It is comprehensive and well written as I expected from a classic. It will keep me busy for years. The copy I received was in very good condition for its age with a small amount of curling on the edges of the dust cover and a slight bit of discoloration starting on the pages
