It is a bit embarrassing for me to admit that I have a bad habit to ignore writing on a cover and just focus on the visual illustrations. When I first saw the cover, I thought "cat" because of the way the font in the title was shaped and the color of the eyes. After reading the book, I actually read the title cover and saw that it said "wolves" and realized that it was to represent a man/wolf's green eyes. Cats and wolves are similar, right? I'm going to pretend they are because I still think the cover is amazing because of the animal visual that my eyes see.

I quickly realized that I have never read a book about werewolf lore. Then I quickly learned that this focused more on wolf shifters and I was even more intrigued. The story world is just beautiful and fascinating. I loved all the "fairytale" elements that were included. It is true that lore and legends come from a kernel of truth, so why not fairytales too.

I'm sad to have to wait for the next installation. I can't wait to read more. It pulled me in, it had a lot op open ends that I want to know how they will develop and be resolved. There are even some elements that I wonder if it will be expounded upon later (which would totally add to my love of the story). I think it was wonderfully done!

This book has a scene of strong language (words I never heard growing up and didn't know the meanings of until this year) and one oral sex scene. Besides that, I would have considered it a young adult fantasy.

5.0 out of 5 stars A new novel, a new series, a new author... a new addiction 6 November 2016

Kavan is Kristen Clark-Frost's debut novel. As such, I noticed several areas where she can grow in her style and word usage. That being said, I have to tell you how much I enjoyed this story. It caught my interest and held it, through interruptions and all, I kept reading.

Kristen has created her own paranormal world in which to play, and I'm immensely enjoying learning about this world. Love the concepts behind the Drelatta, wolf shifters, and werewolves. You really need to read the book for yourself and experience this new world.

Kavan is a no-nonsense type of guy, especially when it comes to his destined mate, however, he is ruled by his feelings in regards to Ashlyn. I feel that I don't know much about either character, other than how they feel about each other, but I think Ashlyn is the deeper of the two wells and there is a lot more that I want to know about her. The story ends in a cliffhanger and the next is already titled, Ashlyn. I know I'm waiting for it to be released.

**PS: Kian and Tori are my favorite characters so far. Totally want to learn more about them.

5.0 out of 5 stars A delicious read and a great find! 23 October 2016

Author Kristen Clark-Frost hit the ground running with her new book, “Kavan”, the first of the Drelatta Wolves series. The characters are well developed, the storyline clear and well thought-out, and the twists and turns unending. I was enthralled from page one, and couldn’t put the book down. The unconventional romance between Kavan and Ashlyn is enchanting and delightful. “Kavan” will keep you guessing until the very end! If you like romance novels, with a twist of paranormal, and perhaps a slice of sarcasm, then “Kavan” is definitely for you. I give it two thumbs way up!

5.0 out of 5 stars Promising first book of a new author 5 November 2016
By Birgit Wahl - Published on Amazon.com

Book World open your ears and eyes I announce a new author and I am really stunned.
I have read a really awesome book from a new author, yes it is her debut novel. I have to applaud cause for a first book the plot was well thought through, the setting is in rurale New Hampshire but the prologue setting is in my country Germany in the Dark Age, the book is not a historical lol only the prologue is in the past, the book is in the here and now. Yes it is a shifter book but there aren’t only shifter roaming the plot, there are mages, witches, wizards, fae and sluagh showing up. The heronine and her bbf were believed to be human as they thoughts so themself but wow not ordinary humans as was discovered. I’m not spilling the beans here sorry you have just to read the book to find out the secrets hidden inside. There is conflict inside, shifter policing werewolves, madmen wanting to have global dominion lol spilled one bean but not more.
An awesome first work is all what I want to say.
