In this story, Kat, the Red General, has been betrayed by the Beast and lost his protection. He can't even protect himself now and Kat is on her own, a mere mortal stumbling along in the dark. Theda and the Pale Rider have been reunited and the world has gone to hell in a hand basket - literally. Kat has one last mission in her, but she's not sure she can complete it. She's hurt and vulnerable, something we've not seen in the Theta Wave series. This is one gritty, down and dirty episode, exactly what you'd expect the author to produce about the Red General. Getting a peek inside the mind of Kat is a revelation in itself. Ms. Atkinson is a talented author who can transport you into a world that is so terrifying, you hope the End of Days never comes. Kat is a survivor, but can she pull off this last quest before she loses her own battle to survive? This is a must read for those who have read the Theta Wave series. Recommended.
I truly enjoy the Theta Wave series. Kat has always been a prominent character in my opinion. In this novella, we get a closer look into Kat's mind. Oddly enough, I found she had some redeeming qualities.
I believe Thea Atkinson is an excellent author. Her characters are very deep, and her story plot's move at a good pace.
Meanwhile, I'm looking forward to the next episode in the Theta Wave series.
