UPDATE: It's been a week, and after turning off the wrist gestures and tilt to wake (I set it to touch to wake, which doesn't turn on with just any touch or bump which is great. If I get a notification and turn my wrist it shows), plus limiting notifications to what I only care to see, the battery on this has been awesome. By the time I'm home from work (7a - 6p), it is between 60%-70% left with regular use (checking the time, the notifications, reading emails, answering a few texts, and its actively counting steps and activity goals). Charger has been great and my phone battery un-effected. Now that I have it, it WOULD be nice to have network capabilities since my phone isn't always within 30ft of me, but this is still an amazing and stylish option! I get SO MANY compliments. Only real negative, sometime notifications come in multiple times.
For a watch, I think the apps you can download (has the google play store, battery killer lol) and it's functionality are good, again its not an apple. So it IS pricey, but looks nicer and is great quality so it evens out for me and my needs. (if price concerns you check out the amazon warehouse, they are half off for extremely minor cosmetic wear)
FYI: I paid for my watch and freely posted this review, as I had so many questions other people had as well :)
I've had this watch for a day now so ill probably have some updates eventually. However, this is my experience so far (and fyi my first smartwatch):
Physically, the watch is beautiful. The rose gold is very subtle and not the overly pinkish gold type you sometimes come across. I have a very tiny wrist and the screen is not overbearing at all. Im not sure what other reviewers are talking about as far as it feeling heavy like a wrist weight. It feels SLIGHTLY heavier than the Michael Kors watches i have worn but not uncomfortable. The band is a great width too.
The screen protrudes more but its expected. I feel the screen is a great size, but keep in mind it doesnt utilize the entire screen, there is a thin ring of black space. Lastly it double clasps. Overall i dig the appearance! Its physically more appealing than apple for me but not as gawdy as the MK smartwatches.
Setup with the app was easy but there isnt a manual so I spent most of my time looking at reviews, the FAQ on the Kate Spade site and video turorials.
I love the face watch options but have read some drain your battery more than others, as well as the tilt to wake, wrist gesture, touch to wake. I turned off these as well as limited notifications (some apps on my phone I dont care to receive on my watch) and this helped my battery. However, being that i didnt mess with it for 3 or 4 hours and the battery still dropped 15 percent i doubt it'd last 24 hours as it claims. I havent had an issue keeping the charger magnet connected like some stated but again it is my first day.
Also bluetooth doesnt drain your phone battery nearly as much as people think so I havent had an issue with that at all. Messing with the watch constantly will drain the battery! In the Wear OS app you have to download you can monitor what is draining the battery in settings.
Side note, the app is very lackluster. Wish you could manage more settings there which would help save the battery of the watch
Things I wish I could change:
*when you swipe down from the time there are quick settings, they are ok wish you could edit them though, or i wish swiping right didnt go into face options that could be customization settings or or apps, something!
Lastly this watch doesnt have the same health app abilities as apple watch/fit bit and apple watch does more but for me this is perfect. I dont need to pay for a network, heart-rate stuff, etc
I have a Samsung Galaxy S9 for reference. You CANNOT answer calls and speak, you have to pick up your phone, but can answer texts, use find my phone, maps, count steps, activity, pandora etc.
You cannot answer calls or texts on iphone but will receive a notification. Ive read that iphones connectivity drains the battery faster but havent tried it. When I had my iPhone I contacted kate spade... they said they are the works of a design that better suits apple (offers same capabilities it does for android) but its not concrete and may result in a whole new watch in general, cant say...
