Product Description

KEPT is a 368-page stand-alone contemporary romance novel written for those who still believe in fairy tales. A complete love story. No cliffhanger.

Please note: Due to content, this book should not be read by those under the age of 18.

She’s a pain in my ass.
She’s everything I know I don’t want or need.
She’s the reason I’ve fought the darkness for so long.
And yet, she has no idea who I am.
I had no right to Lucy. She was never mine to have. My interest in her should’ve remained no more than an undisclosed business arrangement.
The day she forced her way into my life, everything I worked so hard to secure began to unravel. From that moment forward, my life has been a mixture of chaos and excitement.
Lucy awoke the beast I’ve struggled to live with. Now it’s up to her to ensure the threat of its ghost no longer holds the power to ruin me.

He hates me.
He’s guarded and locked down tight.
He’s a brute.
Yet, he opened my eyes to a future I was certain didn’t exist.
My life was ordinary. As a single mother living only to make ends meet, I stopped wishing for more. My hopes and dreams in finding Prince Charming ceased to exist. Life forced my priorities to change.
Then I walked into Michael Holden’s office and saw pain not so unlike mine reflecting through his icy gaze. He incited feelings I believed to have long since died.
Michael awoke the spring of hope I thought I’d finally set free. Now it’s up to him to show me fairy tales really can come true, if you believe.

This is something completely new from A.C Bextor ~ I have read all of her other books and really enjoyed them. So was unsure how a contemporary romance from this author would go, wow A.C Bextor blew me away with Kept, a storyline that shows her writing talent is without a doubt outstanding.

Kept ~ Is a very powerful emotional romance based around past heartache and second changes.

Michael is a shell of his former self a grumpy man that lives a lonely life with walls built all around him, he believes that his heart will never be given away again until...

Lucy is an amazing mother, friend and works hard to support herself she is feisty, funny and speaks her mind which often gets her into trouble, life seems good for Lucy apart from the missing piece in her fairy tale ~ Prince Charming or maybe her Beast !

Kept is full of drama, twists and secrets that slowly unfold throughout the story, the passion and build up is so strong it will grab you early into this story and you will be taken on an amazing journey. I laughed, cried and screamed throughout and then smiled feeling fuzzy all over.

I hope to see more books like this from A.C Bextor in the near future and maybe Corbin & Shannan's story will be next !

5.0 out of 5 stars Really fun book 24 March 2016

Very easy and quick to read. Good character development. It was a fun and uplifting story. I was a little concerned because Ms. Bexter can do anguish and grit extremely well (one of her books had me crying for hours saddest book ever) but she can also do light and romantic well. It was a great quick story with a good combination of anguish and action. Very nicely done.

Overall Rating: 4.5 Rockin’ ★★★★☆

Sitting on the edge of your seat, secretly wondering what will happen next, while letting the romantic side of you play out the ending of the story is the type of book A.C. Bextor has created in her newest book Kept: A Second Chance Fairy Tale. While reading I kept wondering if there would be a happily ever after for Lucy and Michael.

Michael is a head strong big shot attorney who won’t let anyone get close to him after a life changing event that closed off his heart to anything good in life or love. Michael is just living each day in a shell of a man he once was but will never be again.

Lucy is a doting single mother trying to put her young son ahead of everything in life, including love. Her once happy marriage was torn from her heart and Lucy now believes there is no such thing as happily ever after. Not like the Disney movies she loved to watch since she was a young girl.

Never knowing if fate is going to twist its gnarly hands of despair and heartache or weave its intricate web of passion and love we find Lucy and Michael meeting one another. Some believe the road to happiness is never an easy road to travel. Pack your bags're in for a real treat or a bumpy road.

I enjoyed reading this book from beginning to the end. The emotions of Lucy and Michael either break your heart or help you to believe in the power of love again. Take a moment and read their story. You will be glad you did! This is a wonderful addition to my library!

5.0 out of 5 stars What a beautifully written story 1 July 2016

Tragedy has touched the life of both Lucy and Michael, but sometimes things happen for a higher reason. In their case it was the same tragedy that set the spark for their metamorphosis from lonely to loved. Life for each has been about survival, but when they meet fireworks ensue. I enjoyed Lucy's spirit and how she handles life. Michael is more structured and not used to being challenged, but Lucy pushes his buttons anyway. I also enjoyed the supporting characters, Dillon, Corbin, Lillie, Shannan, Kat and Denise. There were moments I laughed, sucked in my breath, felt my heart lurch and smiled. Thanks for writing such a great book.

5.0 out of 5 stars “Fairy Tales can come true,” is the motto of this adult romance. 16 May 2016

Lucy is a single mom and living in a run-down apartment with her six year old son. Her husband died 5 years prior in a car crash. She didn’t have many to turn to and has been supporting Dillon and herself this whole time. Now she loses her job and her mother-in-law is trying to take Dillon away from her. Where is a Prince in Shining Armor when you need one?

Michael has been in a dark place for the last few years. His son was taken from him, much too soon and ever since then he has hated life. His law practice is growing. His business partner, Corbin, has been his best friend through all of the difficulties and has grown accustom to Michael Beast like behavior. But things change and Michael doesn’t like change. Michael and Corbin’s personal assistant, Lillie, of 8 years is retiring and they need to find someone to replace her. Michael refuses to pick someone because no one is good enough to replace Lillie. Then walks in Lucy and everything hits the fan.
Lucy thought her dreams were coming true when she was offered a job to work as personal assistant at a Mercer’s Law firm, but she wasn’t expecting to meet the most, arrogant brute of a man. Even though the man was gorgeous and there was heated chemistry between the two, she refused to be bated by his rude manners and unkind words.

I really enjoyed this book. I am such a fairy tale girl at heart that I would melted at all the princess references. This book is a different take on Beauty and The Beast. The man isn’t ugly physically, but the way he acts and speaks is detesting. Our protagonist characters each have their own baggage. There are some cheesy movies on Netflix and Hulu that have the same type of plot.
4.0 out of 5 stars Can Fairy Tales Come True? 17 April 2016

Kept is a second chance Fairy Tale that could be The Beauty and the Beast, but also has lots of reference to other Walt Disney Fairy Tales. If you cried in the beginning of Bambi then this might be the book for you.

Michael and Lucy have in common that they have both suffered lose, but in his case it was also the lose of his beloved young son, as well as wife. Lucy still has her son, but suffered the lose of her son's father and husband. Michael has withdrawn from living his life, and only lives to work as a silent partner in his law firm and lives a life of a recluse, vowing never to love again. Lucy is devoted mother to young son and trying to provide for him and doesn't want to love again. The pain of losing someone you love with that intensity has the power to break & paralyze you in such a way that you'd rather not breathe. They have more in common then just grief, and when fate or meddling friends throw them together their lives will never be the same.

She made him feel found, yet he didn't mind being lost inside himself. “Sometimes choosing to stay indifferent is the only way to cope.” “You keep on coping then. I'll keep finding ways to save the world.” “Do you believe people deserve to be happy, even if they think they don't?” “Yes. Maybe. I don't know, Lucy.” “I don't know either.”

You can learn a lot from fairy tales if you watch them closely enough. As Michael softens toward Lucy and starts to really care about her, there are secrets from the past, and even if you didn't get your fairy tale with their first marriages, or their happily ever after, can it happen now with each other, are they given a second chance. Maybe fairy tales can come true as long as you believe.
