Joshua Jacob, a former marine , is a Texas rancher whose set ways and expectations drove his son away. When his son is killed while serving in the military, Joshua places his hopes on his grandson Josh to eventually take over the ranch. Josh is currently serving in the Marines, but is planning his future on the ranch.
In a raid on his base, Josh is one of a dozen prisoners taken by Isis. A daring escape enraged Shakir, the Isis leader, who vowed revenge against Josh and his family. Taking his fight to Texas, however, was not a wise decision. Joshua will do whatever it takes to protect his family.
Gerard de Marigny has written a story that is a combination military thriller and western. It is populated with characters that you really come to care for. Joshua lives by a code of honor and considers the people who work with him as his extended family. He is respected by those who know him and when family is threatened they all stand together.
I am not a big western fan, but I could not put this book down. De Marigny writes scenes that are easy to visualize. This is a book that would make a terrific movie and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.
