You’ll most certainly laugh out loud with this book when the 2 main characters love to hate each other only just when you get the warm and fuzzies Lani rips the rug from under your feet.
You where able to lift my heart and break my soul. Murphy honestly had me in his grip from the get go then Mavis and Vlad tightened it.
Beautifully written with so much heart thank you so so much.
Well done to you Queen, gave me way more than anticipated and I always anticipate everything.
I’m sitting here struggling to write this review even after finishing the book two days ago.
Lani Lynn Vale has definitely turned over a new leaf with this new series. Her writing is just out of this world and with this latest release, she quite simply, ripped my heart out.
LLV is known for making me laugh out loud and finishing a book feeling light hearted. With Jerk It, I went through half a box of tissues and it’s left me reeling (but in
This book is by far completely different than what LLV usually writes.
It’s the story of Murphy, the local mechanic and Mavis, a single mom trying to make it in in the nursing field while raising her baby. The only outlet that both Mavis and Murphy have is CrossFit. Except, that’s not where they originally met.
Murphy has held a grudge against Mavis for over a decade because of what her family did to his. Now over a decade later, Murphy starts to realise that no matter what he does, his feelings for Mavis aren’t going anywhere. He can try to hate her as much as he wants but it’s not going to change anything.
Mavis has enough on her plate while trying to raise Vlad, she doesn’t need Murphy causing her headaches with his grumpy butt. But when Mavis starts to see changes in Murphy she decides to push past Murphy’s grumpy exterior and make him talk to her.
I simply cannot recommend this book enough! This is the best writing that Lani Lynn Vale has done in her entire career and if this series keeps going the way it is, then it will be hands down the best series of the year!
Seriously though, keep a box of tissues handy. You’ll need them!!
Made CrossFit #2 - Releasing August 10th
“Do you honestly feel that I should’ve done this?” I asked honestly. “Because, the more I see her break down, the more I realise that I’m a stupid, selfish son of a bitch.”
Oh Lordy Lordy… this book was one very emotional book. I wasn’t 100% sure where it was going to begin with, but some how I just knew it was going to pull my heart strings in multiple directions. Despite all this though, I well and truly loved this book and watching Murphy and Mavis relationship blossom.
Murphy and Mavis have known each other since they were children, they grown up together in their hometown until certain events lead Murphy and his mum away. But after years of being away Murphy’s return to their home town is the last thing he wants to do, so whilst here he is doing what ever it takes to avoid the one girl he used to know.
When Mavis runs in to Murphy unexpectedly in town one day, he is the last person she expects to see, he’s also someone she’s over the moon to see as well. But the hostility she gets from him is the last thing she expects. After there first meeting these two have there ups and downs and secrets left hidden show their face as well. It’s these secrets that threaten their future but the outcome is out of their hands.
I absolutely loved this book, it was an emotional roller coaster and I recommend having some tissues within reach. Now bring on book three in the Mass CrossFit Series.
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of Jerk It and for that I’m very grateful.

LORD IM A MESS. A snotty teary emotional mess.
I had an idea going in that Mavis and Murphy would wreck me but nope, they just destroyed me. Blew every expectation out of the water and left me completely flabbergasted.
Jerk It powers through some real heartwrenching lows and epic true miracle highs. Mavis and Murphy had me sobbing into my tea, laughing until my belly hurt and hanging on to the edge of my seat in anticipation waiting to see who'd give in first and wondering what secrets would come out the woodwork next.
They hate eachother, but they don't.
They have this undeniable chemistry that fuels the fiery connection between them in a way that can be felt though the pages. I adored the petty bickering and cheeky snide comments. I lived for the I told you so's and sneaky lust filled glances. I appreciated the sweet and swooned like crazy at the sexy.
Murphy and Mavis's journey is ALOT emotionally. They both lived hard lives for different reasons and absolutely clashed like the titans at ever damn turn. But they were meant to be in every way and I rooted for them from page one because despite the catastrophic mountains thrown their way, they over came it and came out so much stronger and far more appreciative for it.
Lani brought up and emotional tornado of a book choke full with huge personalities and a story that will break you before it makes you. The story progression, the character development... every part of this book is so fine tuned it hits you with every emotion in a few short hours and makes you feel every bit of it. I was completely consumed in their world and overcome by all the feelings. It was a ride. A rocky one but a phenomenal one. One emotional driven and written seamlessly.
It's Lani, you know you're getting crazy.. unpredictable and actionpacked. But this one like a few from her past serieses is the gutwrencher that will hit close to home and have you balling like crazy.
Don't say I didn't warn you.
True love cannot be kept apart and Murphy and Mavis ( and Vlad) get together just as everything hits rock bottom, however this being a LLV story there is a guaranteed HEA thank goodness!
Highly emotional but a great story, still don’t want to attempt CrossFit!
Relieved, but so damn devastated at the same time.
This book begins with Ms Vale's usual sassy, snarky, firey humour, then like a horror you cannot look away from it smashes your heart piece by piece, every page you turn rips away more, as you chant in denial. 'No, it can't be ' 'It cannot possibly end like this' I was compelled to turn the pages, holding my breath as I did. I sobbed as tears streamed, blurring the words as I desperately hoped and prayed.
I may be an emotional wreck after reading this but I cannot wait for book 3...such a powerful series.
My eyes are puffy I have a headache and I’m sad that I finished.
If you ever heard the term broke your heart and fixed it this would be that
