LEAH
When I was too young to know any better Ryan Jedson fascinated me.
After he went on the run I thought I’d never see him again.
I was wrong.
Now that he’s back in town I realize it’s a bad idea to catch his eye.
And yet I can’t help it.
Sometimes you want the one you shouldn’t want.
But there’s a complication.
He has no idea that I’m the reason his life fell apart.
And I don’t know what he’ll do if he ever finds out.
RYAN
Back in the day when we were neighbors she was too young, not even worth a second look.
However, six years have gone by and now Leah Brandeis is fair game.
I see how she looks at me.
I understand she thinks her secret is safe.
And I’m playing along.
For now.
But soon the truth will come out and there will be hell to pay.
Because I know what she did.
I’ve always known.

About the author

Cora Brent was born in a cold climate and escaped as soon as it was legally possible. Now, she lives in the desert with her husband, two kids and a prickly pear cactus she has affectionately named ‘Spot’. Cora’s closet is filled with boxes of unfinished stories that date back to her 1980’s childhood and all her life she has dreamed of being an author. Amazingly, she is now a New York Times and USA Today bestselling writer of contemporary romance and begs not to be awakened from this dream.

Cora never fails to deliver and this book is as awesome as all her other books. I felt every emotion Leah felt as though they were my own. I absolutely love all the characters from Emblem, and can’t wait for the next story.
I have to start off by saying that I absolutely despised Leah’s mother. What an absolutely horrible woman. That she met a painful ending really did put a smile on my face.
I really enjoyed reading Leah & Ryan’s story. As messed up as it was to begin with. They are two people who really do deserve to have their HEA.
There is so much story before they get that HEA and I don’t want to say too much as I worry I will give away too much of the story. There are plenty of roller coaster emotions that is for sure.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.
I really liked Leah and thought she had a touch time but at the same time I think she was a bit too forgiving. She and Ryan and chemistry though and she really deserved her HEA.
Thank you for another amazing book.

We had little snippets of what was to come by Leah's reaction in Tristan's book but it went a whole lot deeper than we thought.
Leah is desperately trying to keep the Dirty Cactus open. The local bar is the main meeting place in Emblem maybe even the only one so business isn't bad but her dads mistakes are making it difficult to stay open. She's given up her life to help her dad out but it's proving a labour of love.
Ryan is back in Emblem after a 6 year hiatus. He was running from the law for something he didn't do and he finally has the news he was hoping for. The true culprit has finally been found and he was able to return home. He's back and determined to make his mark and pay back those who tried to take away his freedom and stole his last moments with his mom. He's out for revenge and he knows exactly how to get it.
Leah hears Ryan was back in town and was anxious to see him. She had so much to say to him but didn't know where to start, but when he walks into her bar weeks later with a big smile for her she thinks all is ok. She still has a big crush on the boy from next door. A bit of attention from him and she's putty in his hands.
Has the past been forgotten?
Ohhhhh these two!!! Hot hot hot!! I half expected Leah to be a meek little kitten.... Boy was i way wrong. The heat and chemistry just constantly bubbles under the surface waiting to burst into flames! Ryan is blunt and to the point and woooo mama he got me all flustered.
I love the plot for this story. Their pasts. Their in-between. And their present all added up to make a cracking story.
I felt sorry for both of them from the start. Neither were to blame for what happened between them so even when things were not so nice between them you couldn't bring yourself to dislike either of them.
Their honesty was fantastic when it came to fun times but when it came to real conversations the pair of them shut up shop! Gah i found myself talking to my kindle telling it to make them talk. Say it now! But nooooo they didn't listen! Lol They were too busy tip toeing around each other. But of course it all works out thank goodness and what a lovely ending it was.
There's something different about this series compared to The Gentry's and i'm not sure what it is. Its definitely sexier i'd say and also a little darker in it's undertones. I'm not sure but i know i'm loving it. Its great to see Emblem coming to life again. I've spent years hating that town as much as the triplets did but now it's sneaking it's way into my heart. There's life in the old town yet!! I think the name needs to be changed to Rising of Emblem not Ruins because that's exactly what its doing. Rising.
Of course the little Gentry part made me smile big. It's always great to see any of them.
Loved the story. Loved the characters. Loved the passion. Loved it all.
This is seriously why Cora is one of my bestest favoritest authors ever! I'm never let down. I'm never disappointed and i know for just a few hours i can escape to a whole other world.
Highly recommend.
