Jamie Oliver started cooking at his parents' pub, The Cricketers, in Clavering, Essex, at the age of eight. After leaving school he began a career as a chef that took him to the River Café, where he was famously spotted by a television production company.
His television and publishing career began in 1999 with The Naked Chef series. Since then he has set up Fifteen restaurant in London, changed school dinners in the UK and revolutionised home cooking. His charity, The Jamie Oliver Foundation, seeks to improve people's lives through food.
He writes for publications in the UK and around the world, including his own Jamie Magazine. Jamie lives in London and Essex with his wife Jools and their children.

Now that might seem to be stating the bleeding obvious, but it's clearly not what the designer and editor had in mind when putting this together.
The recipes are fine, after all Jamie is good at what he goes but this piece of frippery was not intended for use in a working kitchen.
The font is a point too small, and it's not like there would've been a lack of space given the countless pretty pictures adorning the relatively few words.
This is where they've missed the point. "30 Minute Meals", guys. They're not supposed to be long recipes. The thinness of the San-Serif font makes it difficult to read and is visually 80% black.
If you're buying this as a coffee table book, fine but don't buy it for the kitchen.
Current favourites are the spinach and filo tart, vegetable rogan josh, quick ragu, piri piri chicken (complete with Portuguese custard tarts!) and the amazing cheats' pizza (seriously, this one does only take about 30 minutes without the desert). I can also be good to take some of the salads or deserts to serve with other meals.
I've bought this book for several other people as presents and everyone I know loves it. I think this is definitely the superior book to 15 minute meals and it is backed by the complete set of programs available to watch on 4OD if you need clarification on how to do things.
I read the introduction and the beginnign of the book first to understand how things work. Went to the trouble of re-arranging the kitchen and buying a few bits of kit and a food processor to make my life easier. It is also worth building up the ingredients and not "making do", becasue the meals are so tasty and different. Best money I have spent in a long time.
