Product Description

This bad-tempered Marine is the last man she needs, but he's the one that she wants—and the one who'll do anything to keep her safe.
A Texas DEA agent and veteran tries to drown his grief and anger in alcohol, leaving his group of friends at their wits end. But when a sweet and lovely abuse survivor needs his protection, he steps up to keep her safe from a vengeful ex. Can he protect her from his own dark side?

DEA agent Jake Thompson has done his best to drink away his anguish at losing two of his best friends and fellow Marines. But there's not enough alcohol in Texas, and if he goes on boozing and brawling, he'll lose all his remaining friends, and the one woman he wants. Hope has brought joy and sweetness into his life, as well as the hottest night he ever had. He can get himself back on track for her … can't he?

Hope Lewis is everyone's friend, and a counselor at Freedom House, a shelter for abused women and teen girls. She has one weakness—her longing for handsome, sexy Jake. But after witnessing his battle with the bottle, and his mega-blowup at mutual friends, she knows he's not the man for her. With her past, she needs a quiet, even-tempered guy with a nine-to-five, not a moody, broody agent who disappears into the dangerous underbelly of Texas for weeks at a time. She can resist Jake … right?

When a deadly stalker emerges from Hope's past, Jake is afraid for her, and furious when she doesn't turn to him for help. But shouting at her does the one thing he can't bear … drives her away. When Hope's cunning stalker chooses this moment to strike, Jake must grasp every bit of his control to stay cool. Can he save the woman he loves and convince her to give him one more chance?

5.0 out of 5 stars Who doesn't need a good a little Hope 5 February 2016

I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review of Jake A Redemption Romance. Having previously read Luke which is the first in the series I really wanted to to see what makes Jake tick. Your first impression of Jake is that he is a jerk in a downward spiral and who doesn’t love a redeeming character fighting to get out of their own negative way which you will get in spades with this book. Jake is still tormented over the loss of his best friend in war and more recently his friend who committed suicide.

“Please, let me do something. I can’t fail another person in my life right now.”

Jake has had an attraction to Hope for some time now and finally gets to act on it one night only to be ignored right afterwards. One morning Jake goes to Hope’s house only to discover she might be in danger and he wants to do anything in his power to help protect her. Now don’t get me wrong Jake takes all the right steps to protect Hope but being the alpha male that he is you just know he is going to create some hostility for them.

‘I wanted to stand at the gates and protect her from any evil that would come her way.’

One of the reasons I really love this series is the female leads are strong and refuse to taking any bull from their alpha males. Hope is a councilor who works at a shelter for abused women and children. She has made it her life’s work to help people get through their darkest times even though she has had to live through some of her own. Due to this she has walls higher than most and takes longer to trust.

“Stay with me, Hope. I want to keep you safe and I want to see if I can break those walls of yours down. Will you let me try?”

This book had a bit of everything and kept you on your toes. Jake and Hope’s relationship hits most of the extremes and really makes you rooting for them in the end. One thing this book had that I loved was lots of suspense from the danger that Hope is in. You also get the pleasure of seeing future budding relationships with the other guys. Oh and not to mention lot of hot scenes that you won’t mind reading twice!!

‘He was really good at being the comforter. I wonder if anyone else had ever seen this side of Jake.’

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is book 2 in the Redemption series. I absolutely loved Jake and Hope together. Hope had a past that she strived to overcome and went on to help others with that same struggle while counseling others at the shelter. Jake was angry at the world after coming home from the war and is fighting feeling he has for Hope. Then he discovered Hope is receiving threats. Can Jake and Hope heal each other while he keeps her safe? One-click this series now, you won't regret it!
4.0 out of 5 stars grieving the loss of a good friend, and seriously lusting after Hope Lewis 3 February 2016
By Lisa K. - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Jake Thompson is a hot mess. He's temperamental, grieving the loss of a good friend, and seriously lusting after Hope Lewis. Hope is cautious since she's been burned in the past, and shy by nature, but she can't deny the attraction she feels toward sexy, alpha Jake. Now someone is leaving frightening messages and gifts for her. Hopefully Jake's take-charge approach to protecting Hope won't alienate her. This is a stand-alone and the second book in the steamy, sweet, suspenseful, moving Redemption Romance Series.
5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet and sour 5 February 2016

Well, that was a punch in the guts.
In the best way, let me assure you!
It's sweet, but the battles Anna Scott brings up make you want to yell at something.
The book was frustrating. I wanted Hope to open her mouth and say what was happening right away, but I understood why she didn't. I just wish every woman going through that had a Jake in their corner.
