Product description

Product Description

Jager's new squad of Defenders has completed training, but the spoiled princess who has grated on his nerves since her first day of training is called back to Hemera for a yearly celebration. When Princess Katrina doesn't show up, Jager must find her and drag her home, where he wishes she would stay.

Katrina is a Defender, not a princess. And there is no way she wants to return to a planet she hates for some stupid ceremony. Not when she could be out killing Erebus with her squad.

But when a new enemy threatens both their lives, they must work together to survive.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful second book in series... 13 April 2017

I'd just finished the first book in this series before I read this one. I am a fan of Jessica Subject's alien world-building--and the romance is good too. :-)

I actually like this book a bit better than the first. Katrina's character is feisty--she is Bryce's daughter, after all.

Jager is emotionally wounded, the character flaw he has to overcome to make this work.

Good story--and I'm looking forward to Book #3 when Jace gets his own story.

I hope this series continues... :-)
5.0 out of 5 stars Stubborn Fem 9 April 2017

Katrina is so busy trying to prove she's worthy of being a Defender that she forgot there's no "I" in team. Katrina and Jager are well developed characters. Misunderstanding pulls them apart. Only by being honest with each other can they find happiness.
4.0 out of 5 stars NA romance in a SciFi Setting 15 June 2017
By rann - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Katrina and Jager are both very young. While Jager has been a defender for a while, Katrina is new to the organization and is anxious to prove herself. Her fellow defenders mock her princess status (not cool) so Katrina does everything she can to prove she is not just a princess.

As her squad leader, Jager is supposed to train her. Jager seems to have a hard time training his team which leads me to wonder why he is a squad leader. He really should have had Katrina jumping at his commands rather than doing her own thing. Even if her own thing is to kill every simulated Erebus the training program can throw at her. As a squad leader, Jager has few things to learn.

When Katrina defies orders and Jager follows her, they end up in the clutches of what I would call an evil scientist. This part of the story had potential and I would like to have seen it get more attention. This would have made it more scifi adventure and better balanced out the romance side of the story. To me, everything that happened after that was anti-climactic. However, the evil scientist was not the only threat to their love. Katrina and Jager still had obstacles to overcome.

In Jager, the protagonists are young and the emphasis is on romance. This combination puts Jager in a book genre I would not usually read, but categorizing it this way, I am able to review it at a face value. I would have to label this book at NA romance in a scifi setting. Heavy on emotional conflict for the heroine and hero, the resulting romance is touching and sweet.

The author provided a copy of her book so I could bring you this honest review.
