Jace owner of a bar in the Louisiana Bayou and a werewolf has wanted Skye ever since he saw her 3 years ago when she came to do a photo shoot. Jace wants Skye unfortunately his world is dangerous and he is keeping secrets she may not be able to deal with when and if he tells her.
Skye after a bad break up runs back to the one place she feels she has a connection to the Bayou. She is hoping to get more photos of the wolf pack that she saw and photographed last time she was there. When her ex turns up and causes trouble for her and the werewolves’ things get ugly quickly and Jace and Skye have to decide if they are able to trust each other.
This was gripping page turner for a short story I was unable to put it down. I received this Arc for my honest review.
I have just finished reading Jace's story, I was quickly drawn into the story & was surprised when I'd already finished it.
Skye finds comfort in the Bayou, especially around Jace, having just broken up with her boyfriend she wants to take pictures & relax. But when a storm breaks & Skye finds herself in a cabin with him....
I loved how things progressed between Jace & Skye, it made for an enjoyable short read.... why do these stories have to be so short??
Jace is book 1 in Kenzie's "Wolves of the Rising Sun" series, which in turn is a part of the "Mating Season" pack series. A set of books from 6 authors, 6 different packs & an individuals story on finding their mate. I can't wait to read more Kenzie's "Wolves of the Rising Sun" & to delve into the other authors work in the "Mating Season" series.
This is a pretty standard shifter romance but enjoyable even so.
Jace owns a bar with his brother in the bayou. He first laid eyes on Skye Michaels three years previously but, at that time, they were both in relationships. Now Skye, a talented photographer, has ended a bad relationship and come back to the bayou hoping to get some shots of the wolves that she thought she saw on her first trip. There is also a question of whether she still feels an attraction to Jace which she could not acknowledge in the past.
Will all their questions be answered when they find themselves weathering out a storm in a cabin in the bayou?
I have to say that the imagery of the bayou as described in this book is beautiful.
A good read that encourages you to read the rest of the series.

I was surprised when I came to the end of this at only 65 pages when I believed that I had downloaded a book of 146 pages. My book was also written by Deanne Chase so I suppose she goes by both names.
Much of the 65 pages are filled with hot romance between Jace and Skye with little time to build any depth to the story. Jace is a werewolf and Skye is a photographer who has always liked wolves. Her desire to become Jace's mate is fast with no hold-ups which suited the length of the story.
As an introduction to the series, I'm glad this book was free as it left me rather disappointed.
'Jace' is a short story which takes place over the course of single day with lots of references about the preceding events. It's a well written paranormal romance with steamy bits, action, a few surprises and a HEA which took me about an hour and a half to read. This is the first book I've read by Kenzie Cox but it won't be the last. I really enjoyed it. It's written in the first person, but the point of view changes from Skye to Jace for alternating chapters so you get to know what each of them thinks and feels as you read. This really is a great start to the new series, and I'm looking forward to reading book 2 next.
Photographer Skye has run to her favourite place after splitting with now ex-boyfriend Lannister. The split started five days ago. He was angry that Skye got a tattoo of a wolf, then a couple of days later, he arrived home injured, ordered Skye around and then smashed her head into the wall. Skye packed up her stuff and left Baton Rouge, going to the only place she thought he'd never go. The Bayou, where she felt reasonably safe and the hotter than hell Jace is to be found.
Werewolf Jace Riveaux has wanted Skye since she first walked into his bar on the Bayou three years ago. She has been back quite often since then and she's here again, but this time it's Mating Season. After an afternoon romp, he knows she's his true mate, but then things take a turn for the worse and he is torn about what to do.
I really enjoyed this book and would happily recommend it to anyone. I can't wait to read the next one.
I would of liked it to been stretched out with the characters and details back story
The storyline felt rushed there was little back story to both characters and the world of the wolves, I didn't feel any growth to the characters throughout the book.
