i bought this to use under a outdoor fire pit. the reason i purchased this was because they described it as being able to extend to 29.5 inches and hold up to 600#. the fire pit is 29 inches square and no more than 130#. this product does not work at it's outer measurements. at 29 inches the adjusting bars were unable to support the weight of the fire pit let alone something much heavier. the problem with this product are the adjustment bars. they are made of very thin steel and at the maximum size they do not extend far enough into the supporting corners to offer any kind of support. at it's smaller size i assume it will work much better but doubt it would support up to 600#.
a solution that i used to make this work was to purchase 1/16 x 1 inch square tubing. i cut the tubing to about 24 inches and inserted it all the way into the supporting corners. doing so turned this dud into a champ. the cost of the tubing was as much as the product it self.
with that improvement i could recommend this product without it use it closer to it's smaller size.
