Product Description

I know I'm a monster, but Elle made me feel like a man. If she knew what I did, about my life with MM, she'd never love me. So I lied. Well, I starfished, and in the end, it brought my world crashing down around me.

I can't go back to being a monster, because that would mean existing without Elle. So I've made a plan. A plan that could kill me. It doesn't matter though, since I'd rather be dead than live a life without Elle in it.

If I survive, will Elle forgive me? If I tell her everything, will she see past the monster? Will she see the man?

You definitely have to read Steel and Ice before your read this, while S&I was from Elle's view this is all from J's point of view and while many of the scenes are the same seeing them through someone else's eyes gives them a totally different perspective.
I liked J from S&I but now I understand him more, you get to see what made him who he is. And how decisions even just one bad one that can be made as a teenager can have such wide spread effects, but that sometimes it's not just one bad decision but one slightly bad that leads to a little worse and you are on a slippery track that leads to a bad life.
That's where J is when he mets Elle in a black hole with no light then all of a sudden he has light and purpose, but the question is what is he going to do with it, will he choose Elle or the darkness, but once you've seen the light how can you let it go.
Once again Emily has left us at an OMG moment I don't know how she does it but it's done with such skill that we barely complain just hurriedly await the next installment. All the characters are again bought to life with such a deft hand that not one of them is forgettable and good or bad you will remember them all as they have become so real in your mind.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gutsy heroine meets hardened, sexy male counterpart. 11 October 2016

This look into the male perspective of a female driven series is a brilliant idea. I loved reading the softer, vulnerable side of what previously I only read about the stoic, strong but sexy man.
Elle is someone I would love to have a drink and chat with. She seems like she is the type of woman that everyone could learn a life lesson or 10 from.
Chris is a great BFF. A straight shooter with a side of pissing n vinegar. All characters are well written and clearly their personalities have been extremely well thought out.
Over all I give this book and the series an 11 on the 1 to 10 scale.
Good jobs, Ms Eck!

4.0 out of 5 stars Answers some questions and leaves you wanting more... 1 May 2015

Ok wow...yes this was a really good extra free novella told from J's POV...and I am so glad I read it. He answers some questions lingering after book 1 ended...why he did what he did, what happened to Elle after the shooting and yet we were left with another cliffhanger at the end of this one too!! Grrr....I was really happy to know what was going on in J's inner thoughts and feel even more sympathy for him after reading this short. Wonder how it all ends...

I'm so glad that this novella put us in J's head. We found out why he doesn't like the MC he is in and a little more backstory to him and what happened with the MC. How he truly feels about Elle, from his prospective. Great, quick, short read about that. Will be starting the next asap.
