About the Author
Neil Maresca is a "Jersey Guy." He was born and raised in Jersey City and has lived and worked most of his life in the "The Garden State." He is a graduate of Rutgers University (Newark campus) and holds a Master's Degree in British Literature from Fairleigh Dickinson University (Rutherford campus). He held teaching and administrative positions in several New Jersey public and private school districts before leaving education to work with leading New York City-based public relations firms, eventually leaving them to establish his own advertising and public relations firm in New Jersey. After closing his business, he resumed his teaching career, working as an adjunct instructor of English at several New Jersey Colleges and Universities. At age 73, he retired from teaching and started writing. His first book, "An Italian Journey," a light, humorous, and uplifting story about Nick and Laura Lobono and their fellow tourists, draws upon Mr. Maresca's extensive knowledge and love of Italian art and culture. His second book, "Appointment in Berlin" takes readers back into the cold war era of the mid-1950's and introduces a unique American hero (and Rutgers alum) Lucas Hamilton. "Appointment in Berlin" is projected as the first in a series of Lucas Hamilton spy thrillers. Other projected titles include "Full Circle" and "The Road to Constanta." His third (soon-to-be-published) book is a noire novella entitled "Angel." Set in Jersey City (where else?) in the 1950s, it introduces a kind-hearted tough guy named Ox Moran, his sidekick, the dwarf Shorty, and a string of bad guys and beautiful women. "Angel" is also projected to be the first in a series of Ox Moran novels. Not content with producing the three works and the sequels cited above, Mr. Maresca is working on a fantasy saga, "Well," featuring a young heroine named Cassandra and various other heroic and villainous characters, and has plans for an updated version of Shakespeare's "The Tempest," and a prequel to Homer's "Odyssey." He currently resides in Toms River, New Jersey with his wife of 50+ years, Judith. They have four children and nine grands. You can follow Neil on Facebook at: www.facebook.com/nvmaresca.
