Product Description

A collection of stunning zombie/ survival horror stories from David Moody, author of the AUTUMN and HATER novels (optioned for film by Guillermo del Toro).

Keith’s in his early twenties. No girlfriend, no hobbies, no future. He spends his days working in an office and his evenings, weekends and just about all his free time looking after his alcoholic dad.

And then the zombie apocalypse changes everything.

Suddenly Keith’s free. For the first time in a long time, he’s got nothing to worry about (apart from several hundred thousand reanimated corpses heading his way).

But then he meets Anna, and everything changes again. Cocky, cool, confident... she’s everything Keith isn’t. Holed-up together in an isolated bungalow, besieged by the living dead, will they survive, or will they tear each other apart before the dead get anywhere near?

A brand new apocalyptic novella from David Moody, best-selling author of AUTUMN, HATER and THE COST OF LIVING.

Also includes four additional zombie short stories.

“A gory thrillfest from start to finish.” —Wayne Simmons, author of THE GIRL IN THE BASEMENT and PLASTIC JESUS

“An absolute masterclass in devastatingly dramatic character arcs.” —DLS Reviews

“A unique peek into the world of the zombie apocalypse.” —The Next Best Book Blog

“Moody has the power to make the most mundane and ordinary characters interesting and believable, and is reminiscent of Stephen King at his finest.” —Shadowlocked

“A truly superb post-apocalyptic story.” —DLS Reviews on THE COST OF LIVING

"A head spinning thrill ride... HATER will haunt you long after you read the last page." —Guillermo del Toro

"Moody is as imaginative as Barker, as compulsory as King, and as addictive as Palahniuk" – Scream the Horror Magazine

THE COST OF LIVING and ISOLATION are available in a combined paperback edition from Infected Books entitled: LAST OF THE LIVING

Great read and really enjoyable. The "normal" Moody approach to a story - normal people in unusual situations reacting as normal people may. Down to earth, dark and wish it was longer.

I love Moody's zombie stuff. always thought provoking and entertaining. I enjoyed cost of living more, but this was still heaps better than a lot of other zombie stuff in kindle land.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Great Book From Mr. Moody! Isolation plus a bonus of 4 short stories! 28 August 2014
By C. Brunner - Published on Amazon.com

There is a reason why I keep coming back and buying every single book written by David Moody. I love the ride. Each book is a bumpy ride with a finish that makes me take a minute. This book consists of short stories (I believe four short stories plus Isolation which is longer)
First of all, he has this amazing ability.... He gets me invested in characters. Many of the characters are really flawed people. They go through some pretty horrifying stuff. There are few writers that can get me either really rooting for characters or really disliking the characters quite like this author. The characters act so realistically. Also, he surprises me. I can usually read where the story is going when I am reading a book. So many are pretty predictable to a person who reads almost everyday. But this book surprised me. Characters change and develop. You see hints of who they are underneath. They behave in ways that I have seen many times with people. Subtle manipulations by people....
My last point has to do with an extreme pet peeve of mine. The ending. Most endings are unrealistic or there might be no resolution at all. You might be left completely hanging. Mr. Moody has the most thought provoking endings. After the first story in this collection of stories, I had to take a minute and think about it. Why did it happen that way? I am mostly talking about the first story, but I can think of many of his books that had incredible thought provoking endings. Because even if he is writing a three book or six book series, he still wraps up the basic scenario of each book. In a way that actually makes sense-not just as an excuse to end the book conveniently.
4.0 out of 5 stars Isolation. 24 September 2014

I enjoyed these stories and I'll admit I'm a little surprised by that. I've loved Mr. Moodys Haters and Autumn series but I've found his short stories to be somewhat disappointing. I didn't much like the characters in these shorts, but the tales themselves were great. Muriel was my favorite, and the last paragraph of that story left me chuckling! Yep, I'd recommend this book and author.
4.0 out of 5 stars The short stories were better than the main story 2 September 2014

For the first time, I wasn't completely wowed by a book written by David Moody. He said this is his last zombie book, maybe he is tired of writing them. The issue for me was the characters were so unlikable that I couldn't get past that. The short stories were better than the main story. Still, I was entertained and am looking forward to November for David Moody's next novel.
