This book is set in 19th century NSW and is the story of a young widow, Jane Adams. She moves to Tungold at the end of the railway line to get away from her past. Her background is never fully explained, but it becomes clear that life was not good. While some women would be broken, Jane becomes stronger. She is determined to solve the mystery of the “ghost train” that occasionally passes through Tungold in the middle of the night. Along the way there is a budding romance with the local policeman, Alec. The ending is not what one would expect but is a nice twist. This is an easy book to read and it holds your attention to the end. Highly recommended.
