Product description

Product Description

Arriving at the new government bunker, things quickly go from bad to worse. I am separated from Finn and my family because of my ability to connect with Arvies through telepathy. Housed with three other Readers—and kept away from the general population—we are given serum injections in effort to enhance our thought transference. The end goal? Thought manipulation.

We are considered humanity’s only hope in the war against the Arvy race.

With the ever growing threat of an invasion, the government demands results from the Reader program by doling out ultimatums, and using our loved ones against us.

But they will not break me.

My name is Abigail Park. I am intransigent.

*voluntarily and honestly reviewed the ARC I received from Lady Amber's PR*

Whooaa. Okay so one of the things I absolutely love about a book/series is seeing the settings change, whether it's the physical setting or a genre change/addition. In this case, it's both. We went from a Dystopian world that a small family has to survive in to get from one safe place to another. And then it slowly changed, adding powers like telepathy, and now it's become a zombie/apo-themed world where one person has the power to deal with all of them... if the Government doesn't kill her first.

Things have escalated sooo quickly and I couldn't be happier. The previous installment was sweet and pretty cool, definitely something you know will be important in the long run, but I'm glad things have occurred the way they did. It's more intense, more exciting and a lot more death will ensue.... I can't wait to read the fourth book.

This book was simple and a bit repetitive in some ways but it had a decent storyline and interesting characters. It needs to be finished with a 4th book as the storyline isn't complete despite there being 3 books already but I will purchase the next one to find out what happens.

5.0 out of 5 stars YA Dystopian Read 8 July 2015
By Lorna - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
Cameo Renae knows what young adults want to read, and she also knows exactly how to write it for them. Without fail. Of course I am not a young adult, but I have read every book this author has ever published. And enjoyed them all. The main thing to keep in mind is that it’s a dystopian read and that does involve some violence, although this book had a lot less than the others, at least I thought so.

Abi and her family and fiance, Finn, have escaped to a new bunker, only this time she has a new found power-telepathy. Only it’s not just telepathy with other people, it’s with the Arvi’s. Arvi’s are mutated people that were given a serum to try and counteract the effects of radiation poisioning. Yes, it saved them, but it also made them blood thirsty monsters. Small groups of people have survived underground for years and years(thirteen years in Abi’s case) before coming topside-and into a nightmare. Now people are banding together in bunkers where the rules are strict, and the people are not necessarily treated well.

So now Abi has a gift that the leaders of the new bunker want to exploit against the Arvi’s. Only they are in a hurry so they decide to use a serum to enhance her capabilities. They are also using it on twins-Chase and Chloe, also teenagers that have lived there longer. After Abi starts the drug, things get really interesting to say the least.

This is still my favorite of this author’s series, although I really loved her Hidden Wings series. Abi is such a strong character and Finn seems just as strong. The two have been through hell and back on many occasions since leaving their underground home. Abi and her gun, Hell Fire, are a force to reckoned with, and now that she can interact with the Arvi’s, things just got worse than ever. In addition, to these two characters, her parents are back, along with many more of her relatives and of course Dr. Banks, the medical doctor of the group and Abi’s friend. Abi also befriends the twins Chase and Chloe and I enjoyed that relationship as well, and it added to the overall story.Of course as always, besides the Arvi’s, the villains are the leaders of the bunker.

If I had one minor problem with this book it would be that I am used to a lot more action in this series, and this one didn’t have as many of those exciting moments up against the Arvies. Don’t get me wrong, there absolutely are some of those moments, but I am just used to more. The reason for this, is because it mainly takes place in the new bunker and the Arvies for the most part are outside the bunker. The ones inside the bunker do make for some of the more exciting parts of the story however. There’s also plenty of bunker excitement and not necessarily in a good way. And having said all that, I am excited the direction the story is heading and I know there is lots more to look forward to in this story. I am hoping to see Abi and Finn find their way to safety eventually and get their happily ever after as well.

So, good dystopian premise, fantastic characters, and great romance-this book has all that. It was less than a one day read for me because it is a total page turner. By now the characters are like old friends and I am just catching up with all of them while reading-always a good thing!

I recommend it to all older young adult readers of science fiction romances, or just exciting romances. I also would recommend to adults that just enjoy a good read.

Just a heads up, these should be read in order.(PureTextuality.com) 4.5/5 stars

I wasn't sure I would continue reading this series, it's not my usual style. But once I got into it.....I got into it. Abi and Finn and the family are topside, pursued by the Arvies and finding that life is really difficult. They were saved by a group who made their own space and are not on the government's radar.

They flee to this new space, after promising not to divulge the location of the others. But all is not as it seems. They are separated, and Abi is placed with two other youngsters, twins, who are mind readers. It seems Abi read the mind of the Arvey and knows why they want to kill all living people. Because of this, she will have to take shots to expand her range. She's the best they have.....and war is inevitable.

But the tactics used are all wrong, and Finn almost dies. They have to run, her entire family. But who will help them escape?? Can they find a way out of the bunker??

My attention has been captured. Thanks Cameo. There goes another sleepless night.

Read on my friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! 29 July 2015

Cameo Renae has created magic once again. Intransigent is book 3 of the After Light Saga and follows Abi, Finn and family as they enter a new bunker after the rescue from Sanctum. It’s discovered that Abi can communicate with the arvies and she is separated from her family for training. Her journey is the story of Intransigent.

I adore this series and Intransigent was as well crafted and beautiful written as books one and two. I have grown quite attached to Abi and Finn and am always rooting for them. Cameo truly crafted a rich world for them to grow in and I love being transported there. I always feel like I’m in their crazy arvie infested lives with them. Cameo has an amazing talent to really draw you into the environments she creates and make you feel immersed.

My only complaint is that this book felt very slow. I think after all the action in Sanctum, I was anticipating more of that level. Intransigent does have several pivotal, action packed moments but for the most part, the focus is just on Abi. She’s discovering so much about herself and her skills which is vital to move the plot along over all. But I did miss getting to see interact more with Finn or to know more about how Tina was doing, etc etc. I may just be a greedy reader though!

Overall, however, I really enjoyed Intransigent. I think Abi grew so much and there was a very interesting cliffhanger. The book was edited so well as I would expect from Cameo. It was easy and pleasurable to read.

I would recommend this book to readers who enjoy both YA and NA. I don’t read much YA but I am never left feeling like I was lacking anything with this series. It’s an amazing dystopian world for any readers who enjoy the genre.

I look forward to next installment of Abi’s story!

5.0 out of 5 stars MUST read series! 7 August 2015

I don’t know what it is, but when I read one of Cameo Renae’s books I want to find a place to hide so no one can bother me, and if I am found I am so lost in the story I can block them out. I read all 3 books in this series in a week and a ½. I could not put the books down. YAWN… Yes I was up way past my bedtime a few nights. Lol… If you like books about the apocalypse this series is a MUST read!!
Abi grew up in a bunker (Hive) along with 5 other families who are now a tight family unit. They have been waiting 13 long years for the day when they can be allowed to go topside again after the world they knew ended. This day comes and there are new threats that roam the earth. Arvies with a thirst for flesh and no human emotion. Government hives which looks to control. Abi and her family fight for their lives and freedom. Abi and Finn, someone that she has been best friends with from the beginning have made a pact to always be there for each other and to have the other’s back. It is not all action though there is some sweet romance. The connection and feelings the two is a sweet romance that unfolds through chaotic times. Winter cannot come soon enough! I cannot wait until the next book comes out!!

Abigail Park and her family are going to a new bunker. On their way there, the soldiers discover that Abi is able to communicate with the Arvies so as soon as they get there, Abi is taken away from her family. They call her a Reader and she is now a member of the Reader program. She will be able to see her family only once a week. There are three other readers on the program, a couple of twins, Chase and Chloe and the Dr. Simon who is head of the program.
Their goal is to expand the gift that the readers have and use it against the arvies.
Abigail is not happy to be away from her love ones but at the same time,  she wants to learn how to control her gift. She finds good friends in Chase and Chloe and even with Dr. Simon but doesn't know if she can trust them. She soon discover that she is different from the other ones, that her gift is far stronger than them and it puts her on the spot.
When the government insist on having some results with the Readers program, things are getting out of control.

My opinion:
I really love the After Light Saga, a post apocalyptic series and I love Cameo Renae's books. This one was available as an audio book so I jumped on it. It seems to me that I don't have enough time to read all the books I want to read so audiobooks are perfect for me. I put them on my car while driving to work and back home.
I was thrilled to read again about some of my favorite characters such as Abi and the gorgeous Fynn. The fact that Abi is now able to control more her gift opens a lot of new possibilities. I can't wait to see what's next. I will read Hostile, book 4, very soon. If you haven't read yet that serie, don't hesitate, I assure you that you will love it.
