3.0 out of 5 stars That's the best way I can describe it 19 April 2015

The story was captivating in it' s own unique way. That's the best way I can describe it. After reading the first book in the series my first thoughts about the book were "This book is going to be GREAT". Key words there were ITS, GOING TO BE. The characters, in my opinion were, were inspiring and easy to relate to. Mik being powerful, handsome, and heroic, but humble and kind too. Suri the beautiful, and gentle woman that is fierce and ruthless all in one young lady. The story had me hooked and could lead to unimaginable awesomeness. That is what kept me reading, just enough magic and adventure to keep me going. But there was nothing great about it. Nothing that grabbed at my imagination and made me want more, gave me that feverish page turning, "oh my gosh, no way that just happened, that bi#$@ kind of emotional feeling. These people have magic, the kind that they don't teach in school to top it off. Readers should want to feel what it's like to have it , they should want it by being shown what it can do.
sorry, umm just wish they used a little bit more of magic and fantasy characters

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Fun and Exciting Chapter in the Saga 26 June 2014
By Eric J. Krause - Published on

Another excellent adventure for Mik, Sura, and their mentor, Bailar. They uncover new dangers and wonders in the world, this time in the North, and they find themselves threatened by dangers of their past, which will all no doubt be great fights/adventures in coming books. As always, the characters are well fleshed out, the settings are easy to see, and the world is a neat one to get lost in. My only complaint is the same I've had for the other three books - it's too short! I'm not ready to be done yet. But, alas, such is the curse of the novella, and I'm sure I'd be ready for more even if this was a full-length novel, so it's not a complaint, but a compliment! If you enjoy epic fantasy, give this one (after you read the first three, of course) a read.
3.0 out of 5 stars YA fantasy with very basic magic system 31 December 2014

YA fantasy with basic magic system but usually fun characters. It's an enjoyable series that I read with my children.

I do wish the author wasn't so determined to give the bad guys in the series 2-3 chances to hurt our main characters. At some point people have to be held accountable for their actions. Releasing the pirates who tried to kill you with no repercussions is pretty ridiculous. Each of the books in this series has something like that. If that doesn't change then I'll likely quit buying them. I don't look for entertainment to teach my children, but I do choose books, movies and such that reinforce what I've already taught them where I can. Letting the bad guys get away time and again with no penalty isn't much of a lesson.
4.0 out of 5 stars A little short but good read. 14 November 2014

I was again brought back into Mik and Sura's world, although a little to rushed the story was well written. I enjoyed the 3 hours it took to read the book and will read the next story in this series. A note to the author, give us more in depth descriptions of the world around our heroes, help us to envision the world we are walking through.
5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful series 3 August 2014

I read the first book a while back, and found the remaining three this week. This is a fantastic series full of adventure and with a quick pace. The books are short but the price is right and you get a lot for your dollar.
