I bled (leaked) A lot no matter how far back on my cervix I pushed it.
It always popped down below my pubic bone and even when it didn't it was facing downwards.
Boiled it between pulling it out and twice I rinsed, dried and re-inserted it after max 1.5 hours a I got a UIT and BV on 2 different antibiotics.
I have tried it all to get this thing to work but I think maybe they are made for women with a higher set cervix. I have always struggled getting tampons in, even after 3 babies, so I must have a really low cervix while I have my period, because this thing also sits really low, so I just don't think there's enough space in there for it. It's almost as if my uterus just rejects it and ejects it.
I have seen a lot of reviews with people complaining about how hard it is to open, and having to smash it open. It isn't hard at all, at either end there is a tab, you pull it across (like the cardboard envelopes) and it opens that end. Not rocket science.

The first time I put it in, it was really simple to get into place but removing it was like a slaughterhouse. After that though, I found the trick to getting it out without initiating abbatoir-mode and that's when life just became normal. I was on holiday the first time I used this (standard period-coming-on-holiday thing) and I SWAM on my first and second day - absolutely unheard of! I also usually have to get up in the night to change tampons but I slept perfectly without waking. Once it's in, you can't feel it at all and you could almost forget you were even on your period.
I washed mine with femfresh in between empties because the jury is still out on TSS risk with these so I reckon the cleaner the better when it comes to this sort of thing. The rim is very soft and once it's tucked in it doesn't bother me at all.
I would say that the instructions to tuck a finger under the rim didn't work for me, I have to bear down and then hook a finger over the top of it but it still works. I also think that if I were playing a strenuous sport it would leak, but I have had 3 children so my pelvic floor is perhaps not what it used to me.
Without exaggerating though, the Ziggy has totally changed my life, instead of dreading that week the whole month and then confining myself to the house for the first few days so I'm near a toilet, I can actually live normally the whole month long. And, I can swim every week, instead of skipping one week out of every 4! I'm going to buy a couple more because I don't want to risk not having one now I've tried it. - MrsZephyr
Many folks have complained about the rim of Ziggy being too soft/flexible making insertion difficult but that was a risk I was willing to take to smooth the ouch factor from our menstrual menageries.
I received my Ziggy on day 4 (of, usually, 6) of my period. Exactly what I had hoped would happen so I could try it without worrying about having a massive leakage distaster on my heavy days while I tried out a new cup/disc. To open the hard plastic container, you have to remove the sticker on top of the clamshell packaging and it'll open right up.
I boiled it and inserted it that night; not a single drop of leakage yet. (Granted we're on day 6 now, so the odds are slim anyway. I hope to update this next month after I've experienced heavy days with my Ziggy.) And last night, my soon-to-be-husband and I got the opportunity to test out the softer, hopefully pinch-free, rim and...
OMG LADIES -- it was spectacular. It could be my imagination but I honestly think it even IMPROVED my sensation, adding just a bit of extra pressure in the right places. I could feel it pressed against the front of my pubic bone, but not nearly unpleasant enough to outweigh the pros. And he said he could barely feel it; no pain at all.
As a note to the folks concerned by the complaints about the flexible rim and difficulty with insertion, bearing down while slowly inserting the Ziggy helps a lot. And DON'T be afraid to mash the rim up and behind your pubic bone. Due to the slightly oblong shape, it did take a bit more finagling to fit it back there, but as long as it isn't folded in on itself, it seems to create a perfectly solid seal and I don't even notice it's there!
I am SO happy with this purchase. Taking a chance on a menstrual cup/disc that's as new to the market as this one is scary, but it was so worth the leap in faith in my opinion! Yay for eco-friendly period protection and pain-free, mess-free period sex!
EDIT: As far as my heavy day 2 and 3, I still find I need to empty it every 1 - 1.5 hours just like I did the Softcup. And sex on those days is no less messy than Softcup. That said, even with it not necessarily being "better" than Softcup in day-to-day functionality, it STILL is a reusable product that isn't adding to landfills so I'm still a huge fan and very happy with my purchase!
With Ziggy cup, it took some practice to insert it in the right way so it wouldn't leak. But it's definitely worth it: it seals way better than a normal cup – my other menstrual cups always had some leaks at night, which didn't happen with this one – and allows you to have mess-free period sex as it says on the box.
The catch is that it takes more time to get changed than a normal cup, and I wouldn't recommend to use it in a public toilet – it's difficult to clean, and you have to sit on the toilet for easy insertion and mess-free removal.
I've been thinking of using Ziggy at night and during sex and a normal menstrual cup the rest of the time. Since it's less durable, it would make sense to use it in combination with other cups to expand its lifespan, I thought. However, I quite like it and I might just use it as my normal cup since I don't have heavy flows and can avoid changing in public toilets.
There are some things that really need improving: 1) The plastic packaging was awful, really awful. Not only should plastic be avoided altogether, but it was also super difficult to get the cup out. 2) I like the shape of the pouch, but the lips outlined at the brim remind me of lantern-type sex toys for men, and it's really creepy xD 3) As I said, it's not an easy cup to use, and it comes virtually with no instructions. There should be a small leaflet with a drawing and common problems, I think.
i could see how this could work, but the shape and firmness just wasn't right. i think they tried too hard trying to 'shape' it, when simple round shape would be much better and suit more people.
As for the packaging, it definitely could be better thought out, but i did not find it hard to open, just took the top strip off, and it opened, so not sure why others had issues.
I've since ordered the Nixit cup from Canada as the rim is softer and more pliable and its also perfectly round shape, this shape is far better suitable for me, it molds much easier to my shape, and for the last several months has worked like a dream, no leaks no pain no UTI.
Ziggy could work for you, but Nixit is my goldilocks cup.
Ziggy cup: You bought this so that you can have Period Sex™️ so here’s a Sexy Plastic Shell and a SILICONE STORAGE PUSSY!
Ridiculous packaging aside, I did find this quite easy to insert. Granted, I’ve used a diagram before, haven’t had babies and am used to finding my cervix to check my coil string. Basically I guess I’m saying there could be a knack to it.
I’ve never found a 100% leak-free cup so I’d always use a cloth sanitary towel as well and if you’re new to cups I’d definitely recommend doubling up. Especially if your loos at work don’t have a private sink to have a little wash when emptying (if required, if your flow is light this isn’t likely to be a consideration). It’s working for me on both the promise to accommodate bleeding and having sec without having to remove the cup.
The cup itself is 4-5 stars for me but I can’t forgive the outrageous packaging and I really hope Intima listens to its consumers and cuts out the plastic waste.
Völlig indiskutabel, grade was den Umweltaspekt angeht.
Schade.
I had already used a diaphragm that looked exactly like this menstrual cup so I was pretty comfortable with the position of it.
I’ve used mine now for 6 months and I love it. I can sleep all night worry free - finally! Mine has NEVER leaked. I don’t know if it’s great for a heavy flow, I have never experienced that. But it does work for me. I swim every week and use it during and never had any problems. It’s great for travelling, I had it in for a 10 hour flight recently and still never leaked - not a drop! I forget it’s in, it’s so comfortable. The fact you can have mess free period sex is just a bonus! I bought it for comfort reasons and so I could sleep a full night without needing to change a tampon while half asleep. I’m very happy and have recommended it to my friends.
I see a lot of negative reviews for this but everybody is different and it might not work for everyone but I think it’s worth a go! It might change your life. No more pulling out a dry tampon feeling.
It's extremely user friendly in than it goes in very easy and is fantastically easy to remove, certainly easier than the normal menstrual cup anyway. I couldn't feel it at all when inside. Unfortunately, I did leak blood quite badly. Throught maybe I hadn't placed it correctly, so once washed reinserted and tried again. No, by the time I finished work I was a bit messy. Tried again overnight and next day, leaked very bad.
Apparently, although this is advertised as a menstrual product, it's actually meant to only be used for period sexual activity for the squeamish & haters of blood. Decided to give that a go, unfortunately although it's OK as far as being able to be in place during intercourse, it still was quite messy. Not for me, but maybe it would work better on someone else, a bit like menstrual cups are all different for different women?
