Product Description

Rock star Kendrick Main is living the dream—or so it seems to the outside world.

In reality, he’s trapped in a lie that’s consuming his soul and destroying his family. For years, the owner of his record label has manipulated and blackmailed him, forcing him to deceive the world and hide the existence of those he loves the most: his wife and children.

Unable to see a way out that won’t destroy the lives of his bandmates and brothers, he loses himself in the bottle. His downward spiral ends when he wakes up in intensive care after a near-fatal drunken crash. With nothing left to lose, he buys out of his contract and announces the existence of his wife and kids to the waiting paparazzi.

Penniless and lost, he has nothing to show for his former success but a broken family and a mile-long list of people he’s let down. When the pain and suffering that surrounds him trickles down to his children, Kendrick vows to right his wrongs—hopefully taking down the man who ruined his life and winning his wife back in the process.

This is a little different rock romance than what I’m used to but I have to say that it kept me captivated until the very end. Kendrick and his brothers are under a contract which includes that they stay single which proves to be a little tough seeing that Kendrick is married with three kids. He is pushed to the wall and finally breaks leaving him with his wife walking out, buying out his contract and attending AA meetings because it all just became too much. Be ready for a journey back from the bottom to wondering if his life will ever be complete again.

For a first time author I have to say that Ms. Halliday is now an author I will search out and I’m only hoping that there will be other books on the guys in the band because she did an excellent job of setting up some very interesting storylines.

I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley for a freely given and honest review.

5.0 out of 5 stars First book, huge success. 12 June 2017

I am blown away by this story and the wonderful characters the author has created. A first book, a five star hit. This rockstar love story is so unlike the norm that I encourage all readers to buy it, you will not be sorry. The Main boys are musicians in the finest sense of the word, fame and an unscrupulous record label have made their dream into a nightmare. The road home is long and painful but in the end, love and honor triumph. Read this book.

Kay Halliday's debut book, "Interlude" entangles the reader instantly. I couldn't put it down.
From the beginning I expected the Rockstar who lost it all to be the stereotypical party animal who threw everything away; but that isn't the case. Kay draws you into Kendrick's story & has you pulling for him all the way through. I loved how all of the characters interacted & the foundation was laid for an entire series to be developed. I cannot wait to read the rest of FourMain's stories.

Reading isn't easy for me because I get bored or distracted easily. This book is very engaging and easy to read. The story is creative, the characters well developed but not drawn out or overdone. I can't wait for the next installment of the series.

4.0 out of 5 stars 5 Stars Kendrick Main has pretty much hit rock bottom 19 April 2017

3.5 Stars
Kendrick Main has pretty much hit rock bottom. He is currently attending AA meetings after trying to chase down his "secret" wife Eliza while drunk after he quit Four Main, the rock band he was in with his brother Kipton and two cousins, Mark and Mike.

Kendrick was trying to follow the rules that were set out for him by Dick Landry, the owner of Serpent Records but he finally had enough. When his actions cost him his wife and children he vows to clean up and make things right again.

Will Kendrick be able to get his life cleaned up and follow the rules set out for him by escaping his record contract or will he get pushed down further by the one man who has set out to destroy him and everyone he loves?

I enjoyed this book although at times I did find it a little slow moving at the beginning and at various times within the book.

I liked the premise behind the story and I really enjoyed seeing Kendrick fight for what was important to him. I was a little surprised that Kendrick and his group let themselves

be controlled so much by their contract but at the same time when they were starting out I'm sure all they wanted to do was sing. I also found it odd that only he got out of the contract so the rest of them were still members of Four Main.

I enjoyed the love story between Eliza and Kendrick and how neither of them wanted to give up on them but Eliza was definitely putting a hold on their relationship until Kendrick sorted everything out. I found that part a little frustrating as it was obvious that he needed a little help with sorting out what was going on inside of his head.

I really enjoyed the rest of the members of the band and hearing how they were each manipulated by Dick and their contract. I am still super curious on who Sammi is involved in as I thought I had an idea but now I am not so sure.

I liked how Kendrick was able to reach his fans through music with Eliza's help and how he was able to get his story out there on what he was really going through. I am looking forward to the next story in the series- Rebecca
5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely loved this book! Review by Christine Justlovemybooks Romance Book Blog 31 May 2017

This book was absolutely fantastic!
I can't believe this is a debut book!
I am just blown away.
Could not put this book down!

5 Stars to Interlude (FourMain #1) by new author Kay Halliday.

First, this is not your typical rockstar romance starring sex, drugs, and rock-n-roll. The books starts off with the hero, Kendrick a few steps above rock-bottom.

Second, this book is told in first-person perspective from Kendrick. The male POV is an element I prefer in a romance and I was so happy about reading Kendrick's. He is recovering from a near fatal automobile accident. Due to alcohol abuse, Kendrick loses almost everything important to him. I don't blame him at all for his circumstances. The blurb does a great job of setting this story up for you so I won't repeat any of that.

Third, I loved Kendrick! I often felt sympathy and empathy for him. I was worried. I felt protective. I wanted to fix all his problems but unfortunately Kendrick needed to stand on his own in order to feel good about himself AND be respected. The challenges facing him were difficult but he does find his HEA.

And that is what this book is all about...Kendrick's road to healing; finding out how to fix his life so he can get back what he lost. Kendrick's journey was slow, however I was completely engaged in his story and never once felt bored or frustrated with the pace.

The special touch within this story is all the support Kendrick receives. Kendrick, his brother and two cousins made up the famous band, FourMain. I loved every supportive character in this book. They stood together at every turn in a common goal. To support Kendrick. As a result, Kendrick knew if he didn't get himself together, there was still more he could lose. His family was all the incentive he needed.

Interlude is a standalone. Kendrick has his happy ending, however some of the circumstances that led to his downfall have yet to be resolved. I believe those circumstances will work their way through as the other members of FourMain have their stories told. I don't know whose story I'm most looking forward to. I loved all of the Main's. I just hope I won't have to wait too long.

I'll say it again...Interlude is a beautiful story, very well written and filled with those "feels' we all look for. I highly recommend you check this book out then add it to your TBRs. Read it soon; you will not be disappointed!
