Product Description

Escaping to the country was meant to be easy ...

On the surface it looks like busy intensive care nurse Kate Kennedy has it all: a long-term relationship, a great career and a sleek inner city apartment. But appearances are deceiving, and in one fell swoop everything comes crashing down around her. In a moment of spontaneity, Kate leaves her city life and takes a new role as Nurse Unit Manager at Birrangulla Base Hospital, but her dream move proves harder than expected.

Local café owner Joel O'Connor finds himself increasingly drawn to the gorgeous new nurse, but like Kate, he's been scarred by love and isn't looking to jump into anything. Yet their chemistry is hard to deny and after a near fatal incident, Joel and Kate find themselves opening up to one another.

Just when Kate thinks she's found love again, their fragile relationship is thwarted by their pasts. Can they both let go of their guilt and grief to move on to a bright new future?

Definitely 5 STAR
When a Registered Nurse reads a book about nursing, it better be good! And this one is - it stands the test!
I never like to spoil the story line. You get your own glimpse of this when you read the description.
So here goes with my own analysis.
No one likes to be hurt in love, yet sometimes, like in this case, its for the best.
Walking away when you know in your heart something is wrong with a man, is very wise. So I salute this beautiful girl.
Kate caught on to the narcissist under the façade of a man who was in every term, a controller.
She knew something wasn't quite right, and this was a deep conviction.
So she did the dash and opened up a brand new life for herself.
How many reading this, would wish they had the courage to do the same?
She obtains a great job doing what she loves. Meets a gorgeous man. And finds a sweet nest to call home.
Softly and tenderly life begins to romance her.
She makes new friends, becomes a part of a country town and love pulls at her heart strings.
Got you thinking?? Read the book and you will also get a few lessons on healthcare and what happens in a busy Intensive Care Unit.
You will never look at a nurse the same again!
Kate in this story is a hero!!

As someone that really only reads non-fiction, I sincerely enjoyed this book and found the story to be very captivating and engaging and wondered if the story was actually a non-fiction account of actual events. I very much enjoyed the story and would definitely read a sequel. Nicki you should be very proud of such well written debut novel.

INTENSIVE CARE by debut author Nicki Edwards is a Momentum release for January 2015.

It is a well-written rural romance. At times funny, emotional and thought provoking. How a city girl after being betrayed by her boy friend decides to start over is the core story.

Recommended for readers of rural romance.

Nicki's debut, Intensive Care, is a delight. Easy to read and full of interest with heartbreak, hope, hospitals and a country move to maintain the pace . I found this book an easy read and can't wait for the next one. Definitely recommend to those who like a good ol' romance.

Very realistic medical scenes, beautiful well written characters that are instantly relatable. Very enjoyable read! Loved the small town in Australia setting and the descriptions of the Main Street were very true of almost every outback town I've ever visited.
