5.0 out of 5 stars Insignia Vol 1 8 April 2016

I found this anthology by chance online. It was a wonderful collection of Japanese fantastical elements both supernatural and Japanese exploration of thought. The imagination of the writers was completely out there. There was one story I didn't get at all although I read it twice but I just chalked it up to me not understanding the concept and not the writer's ability to tell a good craft. I've bought all three collections and am looking forward to reading them as well.

This is a fantastic anthology of exciting new authors! It's good to see people pushing the boundaries in different genres, and I suspect I will read more by each of these authors in the future.

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable anthology of Japanese-based stories 6 April 2014

While the cover may make you think this is a manga, it's an anthology of Japanese-culture fantasy stories. All of the stories are enjoyable reads, but Kelly Matsuura's stood out for me. I ended looking up some of the Japanese folk tales and traditional stories because I was intrigued by the premise.

I enjoyed these well written short stories with a Japanese flavour. I especially enjoyed Chris White's enchanted bathhouse. Marvellous indeed.
