About the Author

Antón Gazenbeek is a professional dancer, teacher, and choreographer of Argentine Tango, as well as historian and author. Antón studied both social and stage tango with the best master teachers in Argentina and is an extremely versatile dancer, specialized in the style of Maestro Antonio Todaro. He performed at all the major milongas in Buenos Aires as well as on tour in Europe, Asia, and the United States, where he frequently performed with world-renowned symphony orchestras. He has partnered with some of the top female tango dancers in the world including Guillermina Quiroga, Alicia Monti, Susana Rojo, Carolina Jaurena, Carina Losano, and Annatina Luck. In addition to performing with these professional dancers, Antón has performed with Margarita Guillé, Ofelia Rosito, and Nina Balbuena all three of whom are referred to as the "royalty of tango" in Buenos Aires. As a historian, he has written countless articles on the history of tango, lectured at Stanford University, Harvard University, Julliard, MIT, St. John's University, and Hamburg University in Germany. His book "Inside the Show Tango Argentino," is the first in a series on the evolution of tango and he is currently working on the second and third editions in that series. As a tango professor, he gave tango classes in all the major cities of the United States, Argentina, Japan, Korea, and China. All of Antón's teaching is based on his historic research. He is one of the very few tango teachers in the world with the ability to explain and demonstrate the authentic origin of each style he teaches. Antón starred in five tango teaching DVDs that have had great success worldwide and is the choreographer, creator, and artistic director of the show "Anthropology of Tango Dance". After nine years of collecting all types of photographic and video material related to tango Antón put together the largest and most important tango video collection in the world. He wrote articles for many magazines and is a highly recognized expert on the show "Tango Argentino" and on the life of Antonio Todaro, and is constantly consulted to collaborate on articles about those topics. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.
