Any accomplished cook or chef understands that great results are less about single ingredients and fashionable gadgets, and more about mastery over key utensils - the same principle applies to innovation. At a time when this word is being thrown around like semi-dried tomatoes in the late 1990’s - Shellshear provides a grounding perspective. “Innovation Tools” is akin to a high quality block of knives and a seasoned set of stainless steel cookware. It’s comprehensive practical advice with engaging real-life examples from industry that can be relied upon. Unlike many other writers in the market, Shellshear goes to length's to provide original references. This is not an attempt to create another buzz word or marketing hype - it is a walk through the foundations of what it takes to create new value. If followed “Innovation Tools” will deliver readers with results time after time - a fun read, this book will pay for itself - especially for serious change makers.

Evan Shellshear was a keynote speaker at a large entrepreneurship event I recently attended in Australia. I was really impressed with Evan - he immediately came across as having a depth of knowledge about business innovation in today's rapidly changing and globalised environment. After the event, curiosity got the better of me and I bought a copy of this book - and I'm so pleased I did. Innovation Tools sheds a refreshing perspective on how to scale and grow your business at various points - from napkin sketch to maturity - in an easy to understand and methodical way. Evan has clearly gone to great lengths in substantiating the data and the science behind these strategies, which I've found to be quite rare in this book category. Innovation Tools has paid for itself many times over in terms of the value it's already putting back into my own business. Super recommend!
