I honestly don't know how this made it out of the slush pile. Unless you are 10 and starved for the attention of teenage boys with issues, there just isn't a reason to read this. Let me list the problems.

- Shallow stereotypical characters apparently recycled from her other series TMI.
- Poorly researched material when referencing Victorian era.
- about a 200 page section where nothing happens except they have dinner, go to bed, rinse and repeat.
- Poorly conceived plot that blind freddy could see coming, but insanely idiotic characters can't.
- Repetitive writing that drives you insane.
- All held together with a very, very thinly veiled tween romance from hell.

Cassandra Clare never lets her readers down. Having read just about every one of her books I have to say that the Infernal Devices series is my favorite. She has a way of painting a picture of the world that is set in our world and yet couldn't be more different.

This book is a sort of prequel to the Mortal Instruments books by Cassandra Claire, setting up histories of the families mentioned in the Mortal Instruments series. The characters in the Infernal Devices are more likeable and have a fragility that the modern day characters of the Mortal Instruments series lacked.

The story starts with a young girl moving from New York to London to find her brother after a family death and her amazing discovery of a secret world she had not been exposed to previously. She meets a company of people who seem to ignore the social mores of early England and polite society. They help her to discover more about her brother's whereabouts and his escapades since arriving in England. She meets two very different young men, who both capture her heart but for different reasons.

Will, wild and untamed, seemingly uncaring of anyone else and Jem, fragile and gentle who cares too much. Jem is the on;y one who can reach Will until Tessa arrives at the Shadowhunters London Institute.

I can highly recommend this book and the two other Infernal Devices books.

by the angel i loved this series and would 100% recommend it. before you read it read the first three mortal instruments books then the last three after you have finished this series. i love and relate to the characters so much and i feel everything they feel. jem in the books is very sweet but im sorry im a huge wessa shipper. will and tessa are so perfect and the way they fangirl over books really deepens the readers connection to them. i think cecily and gabriel are badass sophie and gideon polite and brave, jessamine confident, jem kind and wise, will funny and heroic, tessa smart and loving and charlotte and henry caring and love that they stand up for whats right. but before you go and fall in love with this book there is just ond more thing. the infernal devices are extremely sad! never have i felt so emo in my life. that is a WARNING. now enjoy bawling your eyes out in the middle of the night with a mixture and saddness all because of this fantastic read. READ IT

The infernal devices are a fantastic series. Following the Mortal instruments. Clockwork Angel starts off with a young girl travelling to meet her brother. After some events occur she finds herself falling in love with 2 boys who couldn't be more different.
I would definitely recommend this book and the others in the series to anyone who has read The Mortal Instruments series and to anyone who likes a love story with a twist.

This book is great introduction to the world of shadowhunters and downworlders. It is the first book in the Infernal Devices the prequel series to The Mortal Instuments. It introduces the Herondale, Lightwood, Fairchild and many other shadowhunter families, as well Magnus Bane and the main character Tessa Gray. It is a brilliant story and a must read for fans of The Mortal Instruments.

I don't read books very often but I came across Cassandra Clare's novel and found that I cannot put the books down. I have read all of The Mortal Instruments series, then the Clockwork series and now I am up to the Bane serious and they are all so very very good
