- Shallow stereotypical characters apparently recycled from her other series TMI.
- Poorly researched material when referencing Victorian era.
- about a 200 page section where nothing happens except they have dinner, go to bed, rinse and repeat.
- Poorly conceived plot that blind freddy could see coming, but insanely idiotic characters can't.
- Repetitive writing that drives you insane.
- All held together with a very, very thinly veiled tween romance from hell.
The story starts with a young girl moving from New York to London to find her brother after a family death and her amazing discovery of a secret world she had not been exposed to previously. She meets a company of people who seem to ignore the social mores of early England and polite society. They help her to discover more about her brother's whereabouts and his escapades since arriving in England. She meets two very different young men, who both capture her heart but for different reasons.
Will, wild and untamed, seemingly uncaring of anyone else and Jem, fragile and gentle who cares too much. Jem is the on;y one who can reach Will until Tessa arrives at the Shadowhunters London Institute.
I can highly recommend this book and the two other Infernal Devices books.
I would definitely recommend this book and the others in the series to anyone who has read The Mortal Instruments series and to anyone who likes a love story with a twist.
