Interesting meld of ancient and modern marine/legionary structures and roles, combined with a future theme. The use of performance enhancing drugs foreshadowed by experimentation within some modern day military programs.

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting Story....Could be better done...but worth the price 29 January 2015

This is the second book in the series and the transition between the books is good. If you haven't read the first book, you might want to start there. The story is interesting (military science fiction with a modest amount of action, interesting twists in genetic modifications, some mention of science but not especially well done and a heavy dose of character development). There are a host of subplots and characters that make this a challenging read. As for the author's ability to tell such a complex story--this book is an improvement over the first but still falls short. At times the amount of detail bogs the story down and we learn a lot about characters that are secondary to the overall plot. Still, I encourage you to read the book. There is a good story in there and the offering is worth the purchase price. This author will improve with time and I will purchase the next book in the series.
5.0 out of 5 stars BEST SciFi SERIES. This is a must read, it is out of this world. 25 April 2015

Hope you don't mind but this is going to be on the series.

This is the best science fiction I have ever read...I can't wait to start the adventure again in Book 3. I have missed the guys. Now if you are saying, I'm not a big Sci Fy reading, well that is okay cause neither am I but Mr Taylor has a different style. I will try to explain it...His stories take place usually in a different star system with either non humans or humans far far in the further. And it may have military types in it or robots but the way the stories are written is like you are there, living next door or down the way from the main characters. I always get so invested in their lives...I have to see what is going to happen next but don't want the stories to end because I enjoying being with characters, the adventure.

I hope I have explained how great of a story teller Tim C Taylor is. Yes, there is a lot of SciFy in the stories but there is so much more.

Well I have gone on long enough. This is a great on-going series and we are getting ready to start book 3, Renegade Legion: A Milestone. So hurry up and get to reading the first two books so we can continue on this great adventure...you won't be sorry.
4.0 out of 5 stars I do highly recommend the series 3 March 2015

The series and specifically this book is very entertaining. It contains the attention grabbing action and lightheartedness of series such as Star Ship Troopers (the movie in particular) as well as Harry Potter. Notice that I said, "such as" because this series is unique to it's self and does not copy those series in content or story line. I resisted my first instinct to give it a five star rating because, in my opinion, some of the character development was lacking slightly and (again in my opinion) a couple of time lines were a bit off. BUT, I do highly recommend the series. I anxiously await the release of book three. I've always heard that Fantasy and Science Fiction are some of the most optimistic genres because regardless of the adversity mankind over comes. So If you like this genre, don't miss out on the pleasure of witnessing and experiencing humans gaining freedom from slavery and taking (by force when necessary) their place in the galaxy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good read! Can’t put it down! 8 January 2015

It is the second book on this series. I read it non stop, start to finish!
.
Come back to bite you in the...
Oxymoronic aliens making slaves of Super-Soldier-Marines! Really?
Introduce the cuddly humans into Galactic Society. Tweak their genes! Were they not aggressive and cunning enough?
And give them weapons, ammunition... they're only humans...
Civil war? Whose? But the marines are going to fight?, whom?, where?, when?
And then I need the third book
.
I feel a knock, knock joke coming their way... except there will be a lot of someones at their door......

Do I detect a hint of future time travel? When?
Reading all I can from Tim Taylor!
3.0 out of 5 stars Very Good 18 March 2015

When I started the first book, I was a bit put off by the main character's personality and attitude. However, either he improved or I evolved.

By the time I finished book one, I felt compelled to see what came next. So book two was quickly consumed.

The series deserves a higher rating than 3 stars, but not sure that 4 stars are fully applicable. I would feel that 3 1/2 was justifiable, if it were an available option.

There are some gaps in the plot and the plausibility of some of the actions of the main characters in this story. But overall the author seems to be on the right track to building a good storyline.

I will get the next book, when available _ to see if it will continue to hold my interest.

Try book one. I think that you'll like it.
