Product description

Product Description

In a blend of cosmic horror with weird science fiction and action spy adventure, THE IMPOSSIBLE OBJECT recounts the adventures of Army Intelligence Officer, Major Harrison Peel, who travels the globe fighting the good fight against alien monsters wherever they appear threatening to destroy humanity.
Harrison Peel’s first adventures are collected in four novellas:
“Made of Meat” – Terrorists hiding out amongst the hill tribes of Cambodia have accurate intelligence on Western covert operations, and Peel works to break the network before more agents are killed in the line of duty.
“Driven Underground” – An ancient alien city is unearthed in the deserts of Outback Australia, and Peel leads a team of soldiers into its catacombs where no living thing has existed for millions of years, or so they believe.
“Impossible Object” – Peel is assigned to a top secret facility studying an alien artifact, an object that cannot be measured or recorded by any means, that promises to offer up the secrets of the universe, or destroy it.
“False Containment” – After witnessing a mass grave of fused human bones, Peel travels to California to investigate a zero waste technology program using wormholes to dispose of rubbish in alien dimensions.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Read!! I wish I could give it 10 stars!!! Gave me the passion to want to read again!!!! 11 August 2016

Love this book!!! I am now in the second book! I am so glad I was introduced to the world of Cthulu wonders and thrills! This Author keeps you interested and always wondering what the hell?! And your imagination just runs wild! If I read this series before bed, I have intense crazy dreams... My imagination runs wild sometimes like a child's! But I love this author's talents! His depictions of his monster/alien creatures are epic! Where you get a sense of what it is but not entirely to keep you wondering what it completely looks like! I also love the flipping and flopping of the timelines it really keeps you thinking and makes you focus it reminds me of how the historical novel "The Killer Angels" by Michael Shares was written, various angles in the timeline of the story. Which can be a very hard read for some. But it's my choice of written literature. Because I have dyslexia and it helps me stay focus on how it's written and comprehend better. Which it may take me longer to read but it's my preference. But David ConyeConHarrison Peel novels makes me love books again! It is a must read for anyone whether you are into the Cthulu world or not. Just an amazing sci-fi/horror series! I wish I could give it 10 stars!
3.0 out of 5 stars Great Story, Lots of Errors (An Editor's Review) 5 June 2016

To be honest, I'm not sure how this made it to the publisher in this condition, unless it was self-published, and even then there's no way this was ever reviewed by a proofreader. There are a lot of typos, misspellings, homonym confusion (confusing "ceased" and "seized", for example), bad grammar, bad punctuation (using apostrophes to pluralize--yikes), and other issues.

On the whole, I absolutely loved the story. 5 stars, no question. Fantastic characters, absorbing plot (no pun intended), well-executed structure and story flow, really nice twists and turns--it has all the makings of exactly what I love about sci-fi. And in with that, it's one of the rare sci-fi novels that uses physics for fun but doesn't try too hard and get bogged down in trying to explain the unexplainable. As a physicist, I really appreciate that in a science fiction piece. Overall, this is an incredibly engaging story with a lot of potential.

If the author ever gets this edited and releases a corrected edition, I will absolutely update my rating to reflect the corrected content. Highly recommended (but the typos will distract you).
5.0 out of 5 stars Unexpectedly struck gold! 26 May 2013

I must clearly admit I bought this book "on spec", swayed by the fact that the author is a fellow Australian, living in Adelaide where I reside. That being said I opened the book this afternoon and suddenly found I could not put it down! Great story line with fascinating characters, Mr Conyers shows incredible talent and skill as a wordsmith. Well I'm sold and find myself well and truly a "Peel" fan! Finally a series I can sink my teeth into and, given the quality of the work, I wouldn't be surprised if Peel made it all the way to the big screen!

4.0 out of 5 stars Terrific Australian Sci-fi 30 March 2014

A very enjoyable action thriller pulp-style book. One of the few Cthulu mythos spin-offs to stay true to the original materialist/scientific angle of Lovecraft (rather than the endless boring supernatural horror drek usually churned out by others). Also nice to read sci-fi set in the Australian outback for a change!
5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it. I'd actually like to give it four-and-a-half ... 19 December 2014

Loved it. I'd actually like to give it four-and-a-half stars as there were some issues with spelling and punctuation, and it could use a little work on atmosphere, but the rest of it (general idea and follow-through, plot, characterization, settings) was all brilliant. I even bought another copy to give to a friend for Christmas.
