Had no idea that this book was a fairy fantasy as was expecting a murder mystery. Then perhaps a romance. Nearly didn't continue but glad that I did.
I was happy to enter the author's fantasy world and disappear for a few enjoyable hours. I was soon able to understand the fairy world or enough to follow the story.
Sometimes we should remember that books can be simply for entertainment. Read it enjoy yourself.

Nice imaginative story with terrible characterisation. Pretty immature young adult lit dressed up and pretending to be adult literature. If you like unbelievable situations strung together loosely with weak plotting, this would be just ok.

Bit confusing in parts. Guess I'd need to read the other novels to understand completely but the first one didn't quite do it for me!

Start off was unsure, but I persevered and yes I did quite enjoy the story as it unfolded once or twice had to re-read sections to be sure of what was going on, but overall a trip to the Circus will never be the same again LOl.

If you are a right sided brain, I.T. type (like me) then you probably won't like it.
If you're a left brained, creative personality then you may.

...ever thought of running away to join the Circus?

and whether you might need a guidebook to give you an idea of what might lie ahead if you did? This may be that guidebook. Be guided, be aware that beyond the shimmering circus glitter, ancient strands of primal energy weave a swirling tapestry, where ancient forces wield twin scimitars of liquid sunlight, and whips that slice the sky in lashes of midnight. Fabulous characters, candy floss, murder and mayhem. Real cosmic mayhem. Inventive, original, well-crafted, well-pitched and gloriously colourful, read it... I'm about to start the sequel. Watch this author...

This book draws you along into a world that tilts and shimmers in magic. There are a few gaps, places where a bit more could of been made of the story or character, more information or colourful description, but this in no way detracted from the read and I am hoping my curiosity will be appeased in the next book..........

Really enjoyed this, easy to read but riveting, likeable characters either mysterious pasts and even more cryptic work contracts! Excellent use of the faerie genre, really looking forward to the next ones to find out more about Vivienne - if you fancy something different with a twist of magic - give this a go!

This book being the first of three, although in did not realise this at first. Once you have read this you will want to continue with the story. If you like a bit of fantasy you will love this book, with a touch of romance thrown in it was a great read.
