4.0 out of 5 stars I can’t go wrong with a book by Lucy Felthouse 22 December 2013
By Gaele - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
I know that I can’t go wrong with a book by Lucy Felthouse: trust me, if you want sexy, steamy shorts with a dash of humanity and humor this is an author to add to your list. And this story was no exception. Illicit Relations is focused on Terry, and his 2nd cousin Justin. The two come from a large family, where gatherings are common and attendance is mandatory. But Terry has a few secrets: at 30 he is a virgin and gay, he hasn’t come out to his family or friends, and even worse, he has a massive attraction to his cousin.

Justin is also gay and closeted, with a similar attraction for Terry, but that familial connection keeps them at the ‘cousins only destined to fantasize about one another forever zone’. Terry’s ever watchful Mum notices the sparks flying between the two, and a few very pointed questions and statements later, she is demanding that Terry attend a family gathering where everything will be resolved.

There was some fabulous interplay with family members and the couple here: where I had some moments of unreality was the plausibility of the two men, at 30, both being virgins as they were waiting for an attraction to someone else to scratch the itch they had for one another. I’m not saying that it’s not possible, I just didn’t find that element to have much grounding in believability for me, especially as their consummation of the relationship and several subsequent encounters are smoothly executed, without great moments of doubt or questions. What the virginal element DID provide, however, was a nice boost to the romantic quotient of the story, and it’s always all about the characters and their ability to show me their connection, and make me want to smile when they finally work their way to their own happy moments.

One of the sweeter stories as it unfolded of the M/M romance that I have read, the sex is hot and steamy, and enhanced by the POV of the characters in the wonder of the moment, and the descriptions used. At just over 60 pages, this isn’t a long and complicated read, but a quick reading story that gives detail and breath to the characters, and provides some incredibly steamy moments for readers, leaving everyone with a smile.

I received an eBook from the publisher for purpose of honest review for the Jeep Diva. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

4.0 out of 5 stars Illicit Relations 9 September 2014
By InkedRainbowReads - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
I was given a copy of the book for an honest review for Inked Rainbow Reads.

Lucy Felthouse portrayed a very close knit family that celebrates everything together. The story begins mid struggle for two cousins, Terry & Justin, who love each other on a romantic level, but social norms dictate they should not feel that way about each other.

I thought the author did an amazing job in portraying how Terry was feeling - his inner struggle with wanting more of a romantic relationship with someone he was related to. I wish we could have known more from Justin's point of view, however, Felthouse was great at creating an amazing family for both characters.

You see that Terry has very perceptive parents - so perceptive that they risk a lot in revealing long held secrets to both Justin and Terry. Those secrets held the power to either heal or destroy the family, but because of the love they felt for their son, Terry's parents were able to not only ensure their son's happiness, but also their nephew's too.

The story was short, the sex was hot and the family was one any person would be lucky to have.

4.0 out of 5 stars Quick read, but cute 8 January 2014
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Felthouse is a fantastic writer, with a quick wit. I found Illicit Relations to be easy to read, likable, and cute, if a bit short on the set up. Admittedly, that's just a personal preference and not a slight to Ms. Felthouse at all, I just found that the relationship moved very quickly from forbidden desire to angry-getting-over-it to rekindled in a bare six chapters. The "big reveal" was not very surprising, but I did think that the main character could have spared a few minutes to at least deal with it before jumping on his new lover.

Once the jumping starts, tho, there's no stopping it, and we rocket from hot sex scene to hot sex scene with barely a pause for breath, which was greatly enjoyable. We even have a really great shower scene - something I find particularly appealing.

Our main characters were funny, adorable, and the romantic tension between them sizzles. And as an American, I find the British slang to be colorful and just "off" enough to grab my attention and keep it glued to the pages. I read the book in little under an hour, which is pretty quick, even for me.

-- I was provided a free copy of this book for the purposes of reviewing, but my opinions are entirely and unabashedly my own. As are my spelling errors.

3.0 out of 5 stars Better late than never... 17 January 2014
By Elf2060 - Published on Amazon.com

3 1/2 stars

“Illicit Relations” by Lucy Felthouse is part of the ‘Boys Will Do Boys’ erotic romance series and relates the tale of Terry Kroft who struggles with his attraction for his second cousin Justin. Neither male has admitted his desire for the other and their family connection may be an insurmountable obstacle until someone else intervenes.

An erotic m/m romance that poses an interesting conundrum about what is morally and ethically acceptable given that these partners would not be creating a child. The intimate encounters are definitely spicy but it strained credulity to think that, having waited such an inordinate amount of time to consummate their relationship, it would need to take place at such an inappropriate venue. I had a bit of trouble believing that Terry’s mom could wait quite so long to notice how unhappy her son is and the solution seemed a little too convenient to me. This is still a fun quick read but definitely requires a suspension of disbelief.

A copy of this title was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.
