The Hebrides are the main character and the other characters are forged by its uncompromising landscape. As we go back to events in the past we see how various characters might have a grievance.
Why a prologue? Can't we just be allowed to read the story as it develops. And as much as i can guess the meaning there is altogether too many undefined words and phrases which interrupt the easy flow of words even though they are part of the character of the book.
I wish the story ended differently.
