Product Description

Life should be idyllic, and it pretty much is for Sarah-Jane. Marriage to Tom is wonderful, even if he is hardly ever home. And lots of people have catastrophic fall-outs with their sister, don't they? They're bound to make it up some day. Just not right now, OK! And as for her drinking, yes it's true, she occasionally has one glass of wine too many, but everyone does that. It's hardly a massive problem, is it? Her best friend, Tanya, has much worse problems. Sarah-Jane's determined to help her out with them - just as soon as she's convinced Kit, the very nice man at the addiction clinic, that she's perfectly fine.

She is perfectly fine, isn't she?

This is the third full length novel from best-selling author Della Galton, whose previous published works include over a thousand short stories, half a dozen novellas, and several non-fiction titles.

In the UK alone 'Ice And A Slice' has received over fifty five star reviews and continues to draw praise from her loyal readership.

Such a good read! I don't rate the title of the book but don't let that put you off - this book is a godsend if you have just given up alcohol. I know I will be reading it more than once. Thank you, Della Galton!

5.0 out of 5 stars New Insight into Alcoholism 16 May 2015
By Elizabeth - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
I loved this book! Despite her mistakes and failings, Sarah Jean (SJ) is a likable, sympathetic character. The story of her struggle with alcohol gave me a new insight into alcoholism Through her eyes, I could see how hard recovery can be, especially when those you love continue to bring alcohol into your home and/or encourage you to have “just one.” In the end, I applauded her strength to change her life I just started the sequel, “The Morning After the Life Before” and am looking forward to catching up with SJ three years later.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ice and a Slice tells my story 1 May 2014
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com

Ms. Galton has brought much of my life and recovery path to written page, with uncanny, and sometimes unsettling, accuracy. There is a saying that "if you go to enough meetings, someday you will hear your own story." In my case, it took the opening of this e-book. Well done!

5.0 out of 5 stars Serious Topic - Interesting Story 20 April 2013
By Pauline Hallam - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
The reason I liked this book so much is that it deals with a very serious problem which needs to be openly discussed. The book does that in an interesting and unusual way as it is a novel and a 'good read' as well. I believe that there should be more books like this which deal with the struggles that people have in ordinary life and how they can overcome them.

5.0 out of 5 stars wonderful story! 24 March 2016
By Kindle Customer - Published on Amazon.com

I love reading memoirs of alcoholics and addicts. I found myself relating way more to the fictional character of SJ...to the pint I squirmed with uneasiness with some of her experiences! Can't wait to read the sequel! Thank you Della for an eye opening story!

4.0 out of 5 stars A book with food for thought 10 April 2015
By Leah Weiss - Published on Amazon.com

Gets better and better. Most of us have something we would like to change even if not as serious as alcoholism. Sj is a very interesting character. She has much to deal with in addition to the alcohol problem. Having a totally caring not judgmental friend has helped her in many ways. I also enjoyed all the British expressions.
