Product description

Product Description

Humans have always looked to the stars for signs of Extraterrestrials.
They have been looking in the wrong place.
They are already here, entombed in a spaceship beneath Antarctic ice for thousands of years.
The ice is melting and they will soon be free.

A huge rift in the ice is discovered in Antarctica that stretches for 18 miles, (29 km) and 820 feet (250 meters) apart at its widest point.
When environmental scientists enter the ice rift to check out an anomaly on NASA's satellite scans of the area, they discover something far more life threatening than the raging blizzard trapping them in the rift. They are unarmed and unprepared for their ensuing fight for survival.

Though Ice Rift - Salvage, is a continuation of the story from Ice Rift, it was brought about by readers feedback saying they would like to read a follow on book. Ice Rift can be read as a complete story. There is no cliffhanger or abrupt ending.

Ice Rift plot themes:

  • Action

  • Adventure

  • Survival

  • Horror

  • Science fiction

  • First Contact

  • Aliens

  • Spacecraft

  • Exploration

First feedback:

"An exciting adrenaline rush that rarely lets you stop for a breather."

"The story quickly draws you in and refuses to let go until the last page. An excellent adventure set in Antarctica. 10/10."

"The imaginative mind of the author has produced a thrilling action adventure horror filled with atmosphere and claustrophobic locations. I dreaded each time the characters opened another door. Highly enjoyable read."

"Atmospheric locations and a cleverly written plot full of surprises. Richard was my favourite character. It was easy to imagine myself exploring the spacecraft with them. I liked the way the scientists had no weapons to defend themselves with, but had to rely on their wits to survive. It made a change from the usual gung-ho hero machinegun killing scenarios."

I don't normally read books about aliens and monsters but this book had me hooked. It was a bit unbelievable that the monsters had survived so long trapped in the ice but hey, it's a story right. The creatures the author came up with were truly terrifying. All sharp claws and teeth. I wouldn't like to meet one ever. The conditions in the Arctic the team had to deal with were very accurate. I kind of loved and hated this book at the same time but when I learnt there was a sequel I had to buy it just to find out what will happen to the monsters aboard the ship and a new team of idiots stupid enough to enter the alien craft. This book is very fast moving and action packed and you won't be disappointed if you love tales about scary alien monsters. Am surprisingly looking forward to starting the next book.

Absolutely sensational book, and such a great opening to a story. I’m glad I don’t live on a planet where there are monsters living with 6 arms and legs, that can fly and eat me like an after dinner mint. Ben Hammott has done an amazing job explaining what a harsh and uncompromising place Antarctica would be. At any moment you could fall into an Ice chasm, and you might be lucky if you managed to crawl out of it alive and in one piece. It was Jane Harpers job to make the journey down to Antarctica to investigate an anomaly in the Ice. Finding a space ship would be the last thing she would have expected to come across. Her and her team might have been better off just walking away and leaving it well alone. However, humans are generally too curious for their own good, and how were they to know the hell they would unleash by opening it up. This is a very clever and well written book. It’s a great mix of Sci-Fi, Horror, and Suspense, which kept me guessing and on the edge of my seat. This story is definitely worth reading.

Bit far fetched with alien creatures living for thousands of years in an isolated environment like this but a good yarn anyway.

3.0 out of 5 stars Action, adventure and aliens a many 27 January 2017
By Ionia Froment - Published on Amazon.com

"Ice Rift" is certainly not the first alien book to go with a colder climate and life forms long buried under sheets of ice, but in my opinion, it is one of the better ones in recent years. The author has a talent for making the reader see what he is seeing, and feel the terror of the characters. I thought, for the most part, that the writing was very good, but there was far too many minuscule details that could have been left out to make the book flow that much easier.

The characters spend a lot of time analyzing things that could be figured out by showing the actions of said characters rather than discussing everything to death. I did like the actions scenes in this novel and thought the author did a great job of what was happening in them from all sides.

Whilst there were a few parts I thought could have been left out, over all, this was an engaging, exciting story with a lot to offer a reader. Recommended.

This review is based on a complementary copy from the publisher, provided through Netgalley. All opinions are my own.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Read 28 September 2016

I really liked this book. I good read with great action and fun story. I enjoy adventure and sci-fi that takes place in the Antarctic and such remote locations. The characters were well created. The villian was very easy to figure out as he almost seemed straight out of Hollywood. Too funny. Be aware that this is only the first book as the author is releasing a sequel. It stands alone fine but I am anxious to continue the story.

Brilliantly written well thought out characters some you love others you love to hate. Oh what a movie this could be! A thrilling ride thru ice and aliens that I need to see come to life, on the screen mind you, far too terrifying to witness in the flesh. Cannot wait for the next book!
