Bella Roccaforte has a clear and descriptive writing style, one that effectively brings her characters to life.

The originality of the story was fascinating and clever and I was successfully drawn into the plot and the characters' lives. There were times I was a little frustrated by the main character, which I think is a testament to the author's ability to create a realistic character. I felt something toward her enough to actually believe in her; this is a good thing.

I was taken on a pretty mindblowing journey filled with twists and turns like no other. I may have even experienced a little bit of whiplash.

A fascinating and worthwhile read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding paranormal mystery! 21 May 2014

I’m an avid reader and this had me guessing until the very end. I’m still guessing in fact!

It opens with Shay Baynes who is a comic book artist who's about to have her first real work published. It's a very big deal.

Shay is a very independent woman, having her own house, job, and knows how to take care of herself. What seems to be a common theme is that every man around her seems to only look at a certain type of girl, see Shay as the not "hot" type. Shay’s frustration is quite understandable seeing as every guy around her simply wants to win her away from another guy treating her like a trophy rather than a person, not to mention that most men have a problem with women taking care of themselves at all. First, there's her on-again off-again boyfriend Aiden. He constantly goes off and comes home not telling anyone where he’s going is gone for months and months at a time with no way to get in touch with him and yet he has the nerve to profess his love to her constantly.

Being "rooster" blocked is her other ex-boyfriend, although mostly good guy Eli. Eli is an assistant district attorney in the kind of guy you do bring home to mom. He's seemingly thoughtful, caring, has a great job, and is polite. His only caveats is he’s an alcoholic. Not an abusive one, he just has a problem with drinking. Although he tries to get help this seems to be (at least for a short while) his only drawback. Aiden, the seemingly bad boy, rough-around-the-edges type, seems to only care about Shay as far as Eli is concerned-until the book goes to his point of view. For Aiden to constantly be professing his love he needs keep his eyes off of everything that has boobs because actions speak lower than words. If you love someone and want them to believe and trust you, then you don’t gawk at everything else.

Eli seems to be caught up with some slutty stripper, but don’t judge a book by its cover because you never know who someone might be. Is Eli covering for someone else, or is there something deeper going on with Eli & the stripper? Eli also needs to come clean about his stripper 'friend', which is what he seems to have done in a note he’s written that to Shay that she has yet to read.

There's the misogynistic boss who is the epitome of the trashy 70s style porn director and only cares about making money. So much so that he releases an alternate cover to Shay's first issue, making her look even more like a criminal.

Then there's Gabriel, the hot love interest. Unfortunately for Shay he's only in her dreams (and therefore further inspiration for her comic). Or, is he??

The book does go from multiple points of view so you tend to get everyone’s direct thoughts and it gives you a different perspective on who may or may not have Shay’s best interests at heart. When Shay is on the hook for a murder she may or may not have committed officer glass wants to put her away convinced she’s the perpetrator simply because her comic book sketches directly correlate with the crime scene. Shea gets her inspiration from her nightmares which have occurred since her twin sister and mother have both passed. The book gives the illusion that there may or may not be something paranormal at work and the reader is caught between trying to figure out what is real and what is a dream. Seemingly, everything Shay dreams seems to happen in real life whether she’s there or not. Is she predicting the future? Is she sleepwalking in committing these crimes unbeknownst even to herself? Is the Spectre real or is it something else? There are hints to ghost/demon possession but again the book switches viewpoints you kind of ask yourself is Shay losing her mind or are several people losing their minds?

What the author has done was create a world where you don’t know up from down, left from right, reality from dreams, and it’s a real who done it. Most books I can figure out the ending to however this one has me baffled from both Eli and Aiden's points of view each one seems to really love her but have their own secrets. Do you trust a man who wants to marry you but doesn’t stick around long enough for you to be able to trust him or do you trust the one that’s always been there but you find out all of a sudden isn't who you thought you knew?

How does one get out of being accused of murder when you are drawings from your dream looked exactly like the crime scenes as if you were there? What you do when all fingers point to you because you do not have proof otherwise? Shays’s retired cop father and Eli being an assistant district attorney were able to get shape off the hook for now. But at what cost?

I’m extremely anxious as to what’s really going on with the specter, Gabriel from Shays dreams, the voices she hears, and Eli and Aiden's constant "rooster" fight and their points of view – how do they really feel?

5.0 out of 5 stars Guaranteed not to disappoint! 4 November 2013

INK: Fine Lines, the debut novel from author Bella Roccaforte is an incredible NA paranormal thriller!

The story follows Shay Baynes, a comic artist who has recently found success and is now garnering attention within the comic industry. Her dark, macabre stories are revealed to her in her dreams guided by her fictional comic character Gabriel. Little does she know that these dreams coincide with actual murders that have taken place in the recent past. This revelation comes to her when a couple is murdered in her neighborhood and she is questioned.

On the heels of two recent relationships gone awry, Shay is trying to be a strong and independent woman. When the two men, Eli, an attorney and Aiden, a wealthy independent son of an attorney come flooding back into her life in an attempt to provide her with their support, she gets frustrated. Eli has a drinking problem that he needs to gain control of and Aiden is flighty at best, never sticking around for too long. These two help in their own individual ways and continue to butt heads with each other throughout the story.

After being questioned by the police and heavy media publicity of the gruesome murders, suspicion of Shay's involvement grows.

This plot has many exciting twists and turns and leaves the reader of the edge of their seat, unable to put it down! With quite the cliffhanger ending, I can't wait for the next one, Ink: Vanishing Point. A very original and highly refreshing read!

“INK Fine Lines is book 1 in a paranormal suspense series.” That is the first line of the blurb of this book. SUSPENSE is right! It had me sitting on the edge of my seat and yelling at my cat to “leave me alone!” Poor kitty! I felt bad afterward. But, I digress… I don’t read many paranormal books, but, on occasion I delve into that world; if the book strikes me, and this one did. I had been looking at it, on and off, for awhile, so when it was given to me, I knew it was a sign; I had to read it. So, now I’m hooked and will be reading the series. Now, onto the review.
Shay, has been through a lot in the last year and half: her fiancé left her (again, for the THIRD time), her twin sister and mother have both died, and a person who worked in the building she also worked in died in a very horrific way. On, a good note, her comic book series has taken off with a bang and she is about to start a promotional tour. She’s just turned twenty-two and is trying to get her life in order when she is accused of the double murder of her neighbors.
Aiden, is the ex-fiancé and best friend of Shay who grew up with Shay from childhood along with Eli. They were the three best friends that were always together growing up. Aiden, after being gone for over a year, shows up on Shay’s birthday to surprise her and be with her “no strings attached.” Yeah, right! She has wised up after the third time. She lets him sleep there, but that’s it; they are still friends after all.
Eli has always loved Shay, even in childhood. Every time Aiden ran away, Eli was there to pick up the pieces. Shay loves them both. Do you see that this book is more than just a paranormal suspense? Yeah, they might want to add romance onto that blurb too.
So, what we have is two hunky hot guys (no longer best buddies) in love with one sexy comic series writer. Where’s the paranormal? Well, that is all wrapped up in her dreams! Those dreams get put into her comics. I often wonder why gruesome comics are called comics when there is nothing funny about them. HER’S ARE NOT FUNNY! What she sees in her dreams are of the, Oh-My-Gosh-I-can’t-believe-I-am-seeing-this variety. They have you holding your stomach and running to the bathroom hoping you don’t lose your lunch. Okay, I didn’t do that, but sometimes Shay did.
Bella writes very descriptively. The reader can imagine all of the unusual, beautiful and sensual things she is depicting, depending on the scene. I was never bored. I never wanted to put the book down. I don’t want it to sound like it was all sick and twisted, it wasn’t. There were some very loving, caring scenes in the book. There were suspenseful scenes without the sick and twisted. So, really it was very well balanced to where the reader is not in one emotion too long or too deeply. It was very well rounded.
Oh, did I mention humor? Yeah, she’s got that too. With this book, the reader kind of needs it! Bella does a great job of keeping the reader from being bored. The reader will have varying emotions throughout the book. The only thing that caused me to “tweak” a little was some slight editing problems. I did have to go back and reread a line on occasion, but that is not enough to keep from buying this book. If you are a paranormal reader, you will like this one.
INK Sketches (Book 0-Part 1), a prequel, that is out now, should be read AFTER this book, INK Fine Lines (Book 1), not before. Trust me on this. Bella said that, not me, but I agree. I have already started Sketches and I agree, it needs to be read after Fine Lines to not misinterpret some things (I read some of the reviews on Sketches where the reviewer had read it first and they had some things wrong in the storyline because they hadn’t read Fine lines first.) After reading Sketches, I am on to INK Vanishing Point (Book 2), which is already out. I am itching to get to this since Fine Lines left me with a cliffhanger, but I am being good and reading in the order Bella suggested. Yeah, I’m good that way (most of the time.) Bella tells us to look for INK Abstraction (Book 3) this spring. Well, we are almost there. So let’s hope it will be here soon!
Reading Order (Per Bella)
INK Fine Lines (Book 1)
INK Sketches (Book 0-Part 1)
INK Vanishing Point (Book 2)
INK Abstraction (Book 3) Coming spring of 2014
Rating: 4.75 stars. (Only because of editing, otherwise, 5 star!)

4.0 out of 5 stars Not your typical story 10 August 2013

First off I would like to thank the author Bella Roccaforte for giving me an ARC copy of this book for an honest review.

Wow this book could be phenominal. This is not the typical paranormal haunting story. The author introduces us to a whole new world. This is a dark twisty story with some comedy thrown inof The book was an easy read set at a good pace. She gave you the right info at the right time no annoying dumps of information or dull points in the story line. All the characters had a specific roll to play and were well developed. There is a love triangle that is the typical who do I love which guy is right for me. However it is not full of annoying make out scenec and I really appreciate that. Her way of describing the "dream/murder scenes" are detailed with just enough gory to make them intersting without making them gross.
Shay is easy to love and wont take crap from anybody. Aiden is the wanna be boyfriend with a lot off the comic releif ".( I'm here to protect her from syhilis infected crotch pheasants. Oh look the first one of the day" Ok loved the way he would throw insults at Trish. I laughed out loud and had several people look at me like I was nuts! Eli could be such an amazing guy if he didnt drink.
The only problem I had with this book is there was not enough of the "spector". We caught glimpses of him throughout the book but the story focused more on Shay and her struggle. I wish there was more of the murderer in this. Finally he shows up and the book ends! Tragic I was so mad that the book ended how it did and when it did. Talk about keeping you waiting for the next one to come out. I hope its soon I am dying toknow what happens. I would recomend this book to anyone who wants a good fast paced paranormal NA book.
Again I would like to thank the author for letting me read her book

This is an amazing paranormal story. It sucks you in right from the beginning. Bella doesn't waste any time getting you right in the story and keeping you right in the middle of it. There are murders that Shay dreams of and draws for her comic, but one of them comes true. She is picked up as a suspect and the two men in her life are trying to win her over and help her with the situation. This book is full of different emotions, sexual tension, great storylines, and paranormal craziness. Just when you get into it Bella throws a curveball. This has a wicked, in the best way, cliffhanger. Had me on the edge of my seat biting my nails trying to figure it out. Thank goodness the second is out, had to start it right away! Twisted amazing read!
